Have been living next to the store for 11 years. Staff changes very often, very rude, store used to be good but now half of the things I believe you have to pick up from floor. If you ask any employee I am looking for this for example went in for a coke you ask them they reply always and always you see what is there and that’s all we have. No one ever bothers to come and actually help you to find anything if you cannot locate yourself. I believe when you post time that the store closes at 9:00 pm and you walk in at 8:43 pm instead of being greeted you are told the first thing you have 2 minutes to get what you want. If your store closes for customers 8:45 pm please update the timings at the doors 8:45 pm not 9:00 pm. I believe Family dollar is a big corporation and they do follow their timings or the working staff just decides when ti open and close. This has happened multiple times and I believe now will be driving else where to get my stuff Instead of walking and spending my money with the people who cannot greet you or respect you. Bad business.
Convenient for some items, but the store is dirty, messy and poorly stocked. Most of the staff are really rude, and there is a clear pattern to who they are rude to. I avoid it unless I am really pressed for something. Today I stood there for way too long while the cashier held a conversation until he finally decided to ring me up. He continued the conversation but couldn't handle talking and ringing up at the same time, so it took doubly long than it should have. Finally, the transaction was complete, but I wait a few more minutes while he continued the conversation holding my bag on his side of the counter. Another time, a manager decides she's going to check the sales by using a register function before ringing me up. Why she would keep a customer waiting while she satisfied what was just a curiosity, by her own admission, is beyond me. They should print the motto " the customer comes last" on their sign. Just ghetto-rific! Avoid this pigstye.
There are 2 good things I can say about this place & they are ~ usually some of the staff is friendly especially the woman that I believe is manager ~ the other is that you can save $$$ shopping here. They have some really good deals but sometimes you really gotta look. Their everyday prices are really good as well. The store kinda looks like a little dive that with a little tlc & a little help money wisefrom the owner, it could actually be brightened up to be a very nice store. I don't want to offend anyone so I will just say they would probably get more/better business if the place looked like the peopleowners, employees, even customers cared. The place is very unorganized & torn apart. Stuff shoved everwhere& not just at the end of the day. They do have bigger items though kinda like a mini dept store. Bed sets, area rugs, baby items, a small selection of clothes for any gender & any age, car accessories, a small selection of home improvement items, cleaning supplies, food, storage containersmany sizes, home decor, toys, electronics, makeup, seasonal items,, etc. If you need something last minute its a good place to go thats just my thoughts on it!
I have been coming here fairly often since I moved into the area in early 2016. Honestly, I have never had an issue here; some times an isle can get cluttered but i notice it only happens when it seems like they had a delivery and someone is already working on it if they aren't already helping a customer. Otherwise they are a generally clean and organized location. If anything, I would recommend stocking car mounts if you don't already. This location did not seem to have any when I went looking once. But I will be returning in the future, their staff is friendly and tend to greet you when you walk in and the car mount thing isn't that deep.
Store #05633 on 6138 Ridge Ave, Phila. Visited 7/14/18 @ 3:45 pm. We were anxious to visit the store as we were driving around on a beautiful day. As we entered the store the only open check-out line was as long as I couldn't see the end of the line from where I stood. I notice only one cashier trying her best to stay focused and keep the line moving. As I started shopping I needed help with finding an item. I found that there were no other employees in the store, just the cashier. So no Manager on site obviously. Customers were getting out of line leaving items on any shelf. Customers in line looking frustrated, asking for the manager, asking for another cashier. The cashier was saying she worked two double shifts straight. Customers were being rude to the cashier , when she said no debit nor credit the system is down. Then, the cashier felt frustrated and unsafe so she locked both store doors She rang up the rest of the people in line. As I was leaving another employee came half a sleep, and her cash register had no paper. This store manager should look into this. There were so many red flags here, she could have been robbed. She did the right thing. Kuddos to you young lady.
Manager is really nice and chill. Staff are super friendly, every one knows the first names of regular customers and actually care. Nice people, would recomend.
The Family Dollar on Ridge Avenue, 19128, has almost everything one needs ad a GREAT PRICE. It is ALWAYS WELL STOCKED. The associates and managers are helpful, friendly and superb, even on a hectic day. Kudos to the people who keep it running do well. and thanks for all they do to keep it neat and clean all the time.
So the store itself has a decent selection of products and I reAlly like shopping there , but the employees are the absolute worst. In fact, I pulled up one time and ended up leAving All b/c I didn’t want to have to interact with them. I kid u not that the past 3 times I was being rung up the cashier3 different people were on their Bluetooth piece talking on the phone. Recently, I asked a question regarding a coupon and the woman rolls her eyes annoyed and mumbled something. So, I didn’t understand her and I said ‘what?’ She growled back at me ‘No, I’m on the phone!’ Stupidly, I quickly apologized for having to interrupt her conversation! haha I quickly regretted that. Bottom line they need to teach their employees on simply acknowledging customers and even just saying hello to the customers! I just don’t get it! Grrrrr
CLOSED EARLY?? I usually find some good deals here but tonight I am frustrated because I made a special trip out to the Roxborough Philadelphia Family Dollar on Ridge Avenue after my husband and I put our baby to bed and I snuck out especially to get a few necessities and they were closed 15 minutes early! I was standing there and the employees said we're closed and wouldn't look at me when I said you close in 15 minutes. What chain store does that? Unacceptable and not cool.
