My neighborhood store. Love it , where I find all my ingredients for my favorite recipes....
A mixed bag, but good overall. It's the only fairly complete supermarket in the neighborhood. It is small, but covers most of the bases. Produce is pretty good, fresh, but very few organic choices. There is a deli counter. While complete, much of the items cater to Latino, Caribbean, South American and middle Eastern tastes. That's a good thing because there is a good chance you'll find ingredients that a chain store might not stock. Checkout counters are well staffed and even during peak times the wait is always short. The meat department is the weakest link here, though, and could probably use improvement in selection and overall quality.
I only use this market when I am desperate. All of their prices are at least $1.00-3.00 more than Shoprite down at Metro Plaza. If the owners lowered all of the prices just a tad, I would always come and shop, but I guess they think it's worth it. Don't buy any produce. The bananas are really bad, and most of the fruit and vegetables are right at the stale range and seriously overpriced. Plus it smells by all the meat displays, which tells you what? hmmm The owners are nice guys, but they are clueless. It's never crowded. I wonder why?
It's an OK grocery store. I come here for select products only. I have been shopping here since I was a little boy with my mother many decades ago. The bread rolls are great. The banana priced competitively. But the meat are of questionable quality.
When this place first opened I believe last summer, it was very convenient since it's right around the corner from my house. I loved the fact that they sell boars head but I hate the fact that now winter 2017 not even a year later of them opening there's no one ever in the deli to take your order. Just last week I asked for a pound of turkey and they gave me a pound of ham by the owner. I don't know what the person who commented that their prices are good means but that's far from the truth, their prices are way too overpriced. So if you're going to shop here make sure you look at their sales first or be prepared to pay an arm n leg.
Absolutely disgusting. ALL the stuff that is on sale, goes on sale AFTER ITS EXPIRED. I have bought stuff to later realize it had expire months ago. Walking by the meat section makes u gag from the smell. If you go here, make sure u make a smell test and check ALL EXPIRATION dates. Also pay attention to the cashiers, cause sometimes things wont scan at sale price and charge u full price.
Convenient for me but the owner or he might be the general manager is a jerk to customers. He's nice to older folks and other Arab-descended people but very rude to everyone else. I always feel uncomfortable going there but every other supermarket is too far away. The prices are a bit on the high side, too, even compared to Whole Foods in NYC.
I found prices of most groceries little expensive and beware of sticker prices sometimes there may be a surprise while billingspike. You might run into some expired items also. Its a reasonably big store. Middle eastern , Mexican and american store.. South Asian veggies won't be available.
neighborhood spot - They really have ok variety for a smaller place. Dunno who's paying $13 for a gallon of organic milk tho when acme has it for $7. They should pay the wonderful cashiers more so they don't have to use tip cups.
Do not shop in their meat or poultry section!! Literally they drown their meat in amonia or some kind of chemical. The first time it happened I called it a fluke the second time I refuse to waste my money on weirdly treated grocery where after washing and cooking it you can still taste the chemicals. The whole space by their fish/poultry section smells like they are unsuccessful trying to cover up rotting grocery with bleach. Everything else is pretty good with enough variety. Dairy, cold cuts, fruits, freezer section etc. The cashiers are usually good/great, balding manager gross literally will "sweetheart" you. I can only imagine the unprofessionalism the women that work there have to deal with.
