This past weekend some friends of mine came in to your shop to get chicken and steaks for me kosher who was their guest in Shelter Island. Their name was Ziff and they got fabulous steaks which were grilled over the weekend. It was their first kosher butcher experience and I sent them to you knowing you're the best. Thank you for the two fabulous steaks! Alan Zwiebel
Beautiful meat, with exceptional, old-fashioned personal service. No extra charge to pound your cutlets or to pack your chopped meat in doubles. Tell them exactly what you are looking for and be delighted by how well they help.
I enjoy so many of their foods—they take me back to my childhood. Their own challah is the very best! Prepared soups are also excellent. And don’t miss the BBQ turkey drumstick!
Fischer Bros personalized service and exceptional quality meat can’t be beat! From poultry to rib steaks my favorite, to prepared foods especially the salads, Fischer Brothers always delivers!
I could not live without your wonderful chicken! Without question they are the best in all NYC. Thank you for being there for us! Shalom MD, PhD 100 Riverside Blvd, NYY, 10069
Quality of meat is arguably the best kosher in nyc. Each of the countermen/meat-cutters has their own unique personality. Prepared foods are not top notch, but pretty good on the whole. Staff generally takes pride in their work - though there are occasional glitches where orders are missing items. Some of the store’s staff can be moody at times. That said, store attempts to deliver a bygone, more personalized shopping experience than that offered by non family-owned businesses - and for that, they should be credited flaws and all.
Although the quality of the meat is great, the attitude is tough to handle. It does not matter if I call for delivery or pick up, every time I call I get the same attitude. They make me feel like they are doing me a favor. I always want to ask them how they would feel if they had no customers. They ruin my day every time I call and we end up eating fish more than we want to because they are so rude.
I find Fischer Brothers and Leslie to have excellent quality meat, and fantastic prepared foods. Best split pea and chicken soup as well.
The correct gefilte fish and really no need to wait for an occasion, just get it. Really healthy too, so a plus.
During my work day I often pass Fischer Bros & Leslie. My coworker and I decided to stop and purchase their delicious potato pancakes. I walked into the store and found what I wanted. While standing at the counter a man who I assumed was Latino turned and said " what, are you lost?" I responded " am I lost?" His response as he laughed was "no I was talking to him". He pointed to one of his coworkers. Yes I am a Black man, I do support myself and family but in New York City on the Upper West Side in 2017; I would have never expected such blatant racism. I'm sure he intended to say it under his breathe but he did not. Not one person at Fischer Bros & Leslie said a word in defense of him or myself. Am I now to conclude that the establishment allows racism against it customers; especially when it is directed by another minority they is in Fischer Bros & Leslie's employ? I so love their prepared food and I am now afraid that by returning I will be validating racism. So disappointed their potato pancakes are the best.
