The best kept secret in Omaha---a real slice of pioneer history! Even if it's not open when you visit, you can look inside the east side windows and see some of the original wooden beams of the grist mill. Read the markers on site as well as the ones in the grassy area to the east. They tell of the thousands of people who came thru Florence on their way west for a better life....
There is a weekly farmer's market on Sundays from 10:00 to 3:00. I love it down there! Fresh veggies, home decorations, homemade clothing and knock knacks are sold there. I go every week and I'm beginning to know the vendors... Ha!
Neat place to learn about the Morman Winter Quarters Ave the use of water and then eventually stream power to operate the mill and how they would make flour and lumber until the Weber family guy out if the wood business.
Today, June 6th, was the first day of their Sunday Farmers Market. Produce, food, art, and music. Plus today they had pony rides. Total hit with the kids! Relax, friendly, low key. The market will continue through Labor Day.
So glad this piece of history was saved by someone willing to put in some work! Very interesting history, well cleaned and preserved by the current owner. We stopped by and got to look around and hear some history while on a tour hosted by the Durham Museum. Lots of neat artifacts and a photography gallery upstairs. Florence farmers market is hosted here during the summer from 10am-3pm. Nice little gem right off the interstate.
Linda is absolutely amazing. She is a real treasure. We loved talking with her and leaving about the mill.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
On Sundays, there is a lovely little farmers market with fresh produce and local artists selling their wares.
This is one of the places that host the Nebraska Pottery Tour. The construction put into is very nice if you like older buildings and seeing a little bit of the past up close and personal.
What a fun place with so many vendors to choose from. They had a farmer's market, baked goods, and also many arts and crafts.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
