Flying Star Café
"Back in 1987 we needed a place to go. A place to drink good coffee and watch the world go by. A place where good food was homemade and where the desserts were fresh. We decided to buy and renovate a derelict building on old Route 66 in Nob Hill. Along the way we started a scratch bakery, cooked a lot of good food, learned to roast coffee beans and got so busy that we had to build more cafes. Today, despite a few more locations, a name change, and 350 more employees, we are still a small, local company that serves up community from scratch every day."

Great food. All of our food was spot on. Staff is very friendly. The only reason for the 3 star for service is a staff member came by to grab our try that we carried out drinks and cookies out on. He dumped the paper trash, sweetener and straw wrappers, on the table and took the tray. Otherwise a very good experience. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Pet friendly outside. Kid friendly with kid menus with crayons. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu and crayons available. See picture. Parking: Plenty of parking Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair spaces by the door.
If I could I would give them 3.5 stars. The staffer who took our order was very nice but the wait time to receive the order was a bit too long. I had their signature Mac and Cheese with Crispy Tender. The Mac and Cheese was good but some of it was cool and not warm. The chicken tender was crispy but tasteless. You only received one tender which I was a bit surprised. The Rancheros were tasty and the red sauce was good. The blueberry pancakes were a bit overcooked. The French Toast was nice with fresh whip cream.
Best café for desserts in town! They have an incredible selection of a variety of desserts and an extensive food menu with a lot of locally inspired dishes. The environment is very inviting and is a great place to have brunch with friends or cozy up with your laptop and get some work done. Highly recommend!
Ordered the green chili cheeseburger with onion rings and a BLT with fries. THE AOLI IS LIFE. Whoa did I just yell there??? I did for the AOLI! This is the second time I’ve eaten at this restaurant, first time dining in & the dine in experience is a must normally I post pictures of the interior. I’m sure others have posted it but you have to go in person at least once.. the food is 5/5 my “well done” burgers seasoning was so good almost like I made it at home with extra pepper and enough salt, the onion rings were golden, crispy, & non-oily which were best onion rings of my life!! And as for the BLT it’s 5/5 I’m not sure how they have the best bacon in the world in there but they do. And again the aïoli I would encourage to get an additional side of it as you are going to want more for each bite you take. OH! I almost forgot about the “Red Stuff” I forgot to take a picture of it but we ordered a large which came out to $5.95 and my honest review I would say 3/5 because I personally don’t like sodas, the flavor was really good however, as described it’s heavy on the juice side with cranberry although it doesn’t taste 100% like cranberry juice. If there were refills on this red juice for $5-6 it would be worth it in my opinion. We also had their double chocolate indulgence slice of cake that we got for free, joining their frequent flyer app and redeeming it while making a purchase which I would highly recommend that as well as it is not too sweet, but very chocolatey!
This place is definitely the best restaurant to go to in ABQ if you want a good study session and a great meal. The Corrales location was super cool and cozy. Service was great. Fall menu and buffalo cauliflower wings were amazing!
Cafeteria style ordering and great food, friendly and efficient staff, average prices, I really like their cauliflower wings and vegan options. They also have large breakfast burritos which are very filling Vegetarian options: Cauliflower wings and beyond meat substitute available
Christmas Eve visit. Great attitude from staff. Food was excellent. Good, small selection of coffees, cold brew was very good. Dirty chi tea was very good. Burger cooked perfect, warm pink center, no blood. Wide variety of baked goods for dessert. Over all, a great dining experience, especially for Christmas Eve, when you'd expect sketchy service. Highly recommended.
This is a fun place. Indoor or outdoor seating. Pets welcome outside. There’s an outdoor fire pit for cool evenings. Covered outdoor seating for sunny days. We recommend this place. Use the Thanks app or Flying Star app for rewards and discounts.
[Update]. Really? $8.50 for a pastrie or pie? Its kind of insulting. This place is always busy! The food is good, the ambience is friendly and inviting. My only problem is the pricing. Although they have no problem getting people including me to pay, I think they are overpriced significantly. $40.00 for a breakfast burrito with bacon, and a fish and chips order. It's kind of rediculous really. Perhaps that's why I don't visit often. Came today at the request of my grandson. I would recommend, but I would definitely warn people of the potential cost.
Usually really packed, but the food is the reason for this. I've enjoyed a few different dishes and enjoyed them all. This is also a sister store to Satellite Coffee, so they have a lot of the same drinks. The desserts are amazing! The crowds can make it very loud inside, so sometimes grabbing a seat outside in good weather is more than worth it. They are also pet friendly on the patio!
