It is a really a bad place to attend VFR training. Aircrafts are all old and out of maintenance. It's dangerous to fly with them. Family management is rude and unfriendly. Finance management is poor. Remember never to deposit any fund to them. You could never get your money back if the money goes into their pockets, even if you didn't attend training, they will fabric bill to cheat.

Mat's was fantastic!!! My son has wanted to learn to fly for a long time. He was extremely patient with my 9 year old son. My wife and I really like Mat's. He is beyond sweet and gentle with kids. My 9 year old son actually found Flying Vikings on Yelp and he is the one that actually choose Flying Vikings. Just an awesome day!!!

I took advantage of a Google Offer for a 30 minute flight preceded by some basic flight instruction on the ground which included a practice flight in a flight simulator. The instructor, Bob McDonald, was absolutely brilliant. He is incredibly knowledgeable and happy to share useful tips from his years of flying. He explained what I had to do clearly and was happy to let me do a lot of the flying under his watchful gaze. It was a fantastic experience.
I'm giving 2 stars rather than 3 because Flying Viking's planes are a bit tired. The plane we used was mechanically sound, but the pilot's seat was ripped and had foam bulging out and generally needed some attention. On the other hand, Flying Viking's flying tuition and plane rental rates are much lower than I've seen on the peninsula, so you get what you pay for!

I had an awesome time today with James the flight instructor. After an hour of pre-flight weather-checking, map-checking, and landing-simulating, we took off for a trip around the east bay.
Actually flying the plane was amazing - I'd played with flight simulators as a kid, but they don't prepare you for the visceral experience of actually being in the air controlling the plane.
James the flight instructor was awesome overall. Laid-back, patient in answering my hundreds of questions, and clearly knows his stuff.
A truly exhilarating experience!
