Forbidden Escape Connecticut Escape Room

Prior to doing this puzzle room, I have done two rooms and completed both of them. I also work part time as a game master for another puzzle room. If you want the bottom line skip to the end. Atmosphere (3.5/5) Ahead of time you are able to choose your room by going onto their website. The choice I had was between the "backroom" and the "basement." The description of these rooms were horror theme so I came in knowing that the room was going to be scary. Upon entering the store I felt a bit afraid because the props they had, especially being greeted by a roaring werewolf. The room follows the horror theme, but it is not over bearing and suits it quite well. Puzzles (4/5) The puzzles were very creative and memorable, but it might come challenging to a beginner. It comes challenging because you don't have an indication where you need to use a clue. Sometimes our group was stuck because we missed a clue or a clue we kept trying to use was not needed until later. Puzzles were very satisfying to solve and some really tested your person (mentally and yes physically.) Because of this the room was very memorable and I often thought about them on the way home. Help/Walk-through (4/5) You are given three hints, but my group did not called for hints. If you are stuck a frightening voice that is hard to comprehend comes over an intercom, (sometimes a TV,) to give you a hint. It is hard to understand because the voice changer they use makes the voice deep and a little bit warped. Sometimes we were given a same hint twice because our group did not understand what the voice was saying the first time. Although our group was given the same hint a couple of times, the game masters giving the hint didn't seem frustrated. My group didn't finish, but the game masters were kind and patient enough to walk us through the rest of the room. Even when we were slow on solving the puzzles afterwards, the game masters didn't rush us through process. It was fun seeing the rest of the puzzles and I'm glad they took the time to show us. Great place with fun and clever puzzles. I could not open a lock and assumed that was not the right combination, however it was and one of the staff said over the loudspeaker that it was the correct combo. It was a bit creepy but I had a lot of fun.

We had a great time and wished we had 15 seconds more. Puzzles were challenging and fun. Large enough space that you weren't crowding each other. Will definitely be back to try the Basement Room. Thanks guys for a enjoyable time.

Such a fun afternoon with my daughters!! Great experience and the owners were awesome. Can’t wait to go back and do the other room!!

This was a lot of fun. Laid back owners/operators, answered any questions we had and set up a great room. Right mix of startling events, brain challenges and pace of the game. Worth it.
