Love this place! Volunteers are super friendly and the Pastors genuinely care for you as an individual. Also, my Bridge group which is what we call our small groups has been game changing for me! Would definitely recommend a visit and taking the jump to join a group it can be scary at first, but so worth it.
The people there are very nice, even though it's hard to pass the point of pleasantries and make long term friends. I really like the new pastors, better the the old one. I feel that they get deeper into the teachings then before. I wish they would make it easier to get into a small community and have more young adult meet-ups. I love their worship music. Not overly showy or over the top, just loud enough, passionate and spectacular enough to facilitate worship without boring you or making you deaf or feeling like it's a concert. Tired of it being not passionate enough or too passionate. They got the worship and praise music part down.
Here’s what I shared on Yelp and remains true: I feel compelled to write this review. It's is not solicited but rather It's for those of you who are wondering if you should take the plunge and join or come visit. I absolutely love worshipping here. I'd describe the Sunday sermons as more of a teaching than a preaching and that is what I love most. I am not very familiar with much of the Bible, I'm getting there, but have a lot to learn. However, what I can say with conviction is that I'm learning how to be more inline with God's word and faithfulness through the leadership at this church. Also, they have a new app which I downloaded today and it's so wonderful to keep me honest about prayer. Thank you Forest Hill for making me know God's word more and more each day. Sincerely, I am grateful.
I love my church, what an awesome place to be. I enjoy every moment. The Life groups are great. They are like family you can trust them. The children ministry is great also children learn about our heavenly father in many different ways. I would advise anyone who wants to visit and has visit to a lease come more then once. Yes we are a big family, but we share our to everyone no matter who you are, race, gender. We understand the meaning of love the way God says "LOVE". Both our Pastor David Chadwick, and Johnathan Scott are great. Come and join us this Sunday coming we'd love to have you Blessings to you
This is our home church. My wife grew up pentecostal and I grew up in a nearly atheistic home, yet somehow came to Christ in my teenage years. Forest Hill, Jonathan Scott, and David Chadwick have a wonderful mix of realistic world view, and strait up biblical teaching that really cuts to the core of my experience. I find they are firmly guided by The Book, but make it very clear that all are welcome. More than welcome, all are in deed loved and accepted at Forest Hill. It's a pretty big church, but they do an excellent job of remaining humble servants. One of my favorite facets of this church is their outreach and physical service, both internationally and right here at home. Forest Hill church is actively achieving positive social change in Charlotte, and not in all the ways you might think.
I am not one to ever write reviews, but I felt I should in this case. I grew up in Charlotte and attended church regularly. There has never been a time in my life that I felt unwanted in a house of God until I attended Forest Hill. My cousin and I decided to give this church a try since it was becoming so popular in the area. We ended up leaving 30 minutes into the service. The service was on very controversial issues and it was more politics than anything. I could not believe what I was hearing. He was not preaching to love thy neighbor, but rather to judge them. My heart was broken knowing that there were children in the room being exposed to this. I was told later that Forest Hill does not preach on subjects like this often, but I believe God had me attend that service to show me this was not the place he wanted me to worship him. I felt that I should voice this just in case if you or your family are looking for a church to call home you may feel more comfortable and welcomed at others. God Bless.
Forest Hill is a large church with 6 or 7 locations. Every location I have been to has had fantastic praise and worship and David Chadwick, senior pastor, preaches straight from the bible. David is an engaging speaker and preaches the word without pulling any punches. If you want to see him preach live in person, visit the South Park location. This church and all of its locations believe and preach God's word 100% of the time. I hope you will join us if you are looking for a church home.
Honest Review. My wife and I just moved from South Florida and after reading the reviews for this church, we we're extremely excited making this our church. We will never be back.. First, when you choose a church, like most things, you want it to be real, organic, original. They have a projector that comes down and a sermon is played over it. Replayed sermon. No live pastor. Really? You don't go out to eat and ask them to microwave a frozen meal for you, or go to a concert for your favorite songs from your favorite artist but in it's place is your artist on a projector replaying a concert. Second, the entire sermon was about giving more to the church, how we the people don't give enough, and if we basically don't give more then aren't following God's word then you will have to answer to it one day. You can get more from Joel Osteen on the Sunday morning television show. Sorry to be honest. But we want a real pastor to connect with our Real needs, and to touch us personally every Sunday.
Being raised Catholic this church and their services are a whole different experience. The music is fantastic and very upbeat. The inside is more like a theatre than a traditional church. The homilies are relative and down to earth. You can get as involved or not, as you desire.
David Chadwick preaches living life in accordance with the Word, Faith, Grace, restoring the Kingdom and entering in and strengthening the Christian community. He's well schooled on theology and it feels like a college lecture at times which I really dig. The congregation is one you can slip in and out of easily and go unnoticed in yes, but if you want to get involved there are MANY options and they're always being encouraged. It is a great machine in our community and I am very very thankful for all that they do.
