Forest Hill Park

This is my first time going to Forrest Him Park, but I will definitely go back. There are onsite restrooms, a playground, and paths for walking and bike riding. There is a pond with a beautiful stone gazebo that has a double fireplace inside as well as benches for sitting. In addition to the black top paths there are also trails in the woods that lead down to a stream. There are boulders by the stream that would be perfect to have a picnic on. We even found some unexpected art. Someone made a really cool dragon fly out of recycled materials and hung it in a tree on one of the paths.

Nice place for a family outing, there a grills, benches and shelters avaible for use. Nice playground area. Great walking path and good bike trails and paths. If you are going walking wear comfy shoes. The HILLS are killer.

The park is a great place for picnics and family gatherings and walking the trails. Plus, it's across the street from the James River Park system with even more trails. But this review is based on my Saturday visit and that means Farmer's Market! Stuff being sold here goes way beyond food. The stipulation is that anything sold be made locally. Virginia anyway. In May, the market opens at 8am Saturdays. Until then it opens at 9am. Closing time is noon. It's worth going for the food trucks alone-crepes, Amish donuts, sandwiches, Thai food ans on and on. But if fresh veggies are what you're after, springtime isn't the best time to go since nothing much has yet been harvested. Use your common sense. Aside from that, it's all there just about all the time. Some of the prepared foodz vendors do wait until May to show but most are there now. And there's always lots of leashed friendly dogs to see. Bring yours and enjoy.

Love the Farmers Market!! Great place to go on a Sat. morning. I enjoy getting great plant advise.

Lovely lesser known extension/access of James River Park System. If you love exercising at the river and haven't visited, I highly suggest venturing there for an enchanting trail experience.
