My husband and I saw A Christmas Carol on December 22nd at 7pm. It was packed and the show was AMAZING! The cast was just fantastic and the special effects made it kinda scary actually so we were impressed. Of course, you are not attending a public show unless a few people in the audience get confused and think they are the main event...This was the case for us as two teenagers behind us were talking the whole entire show. That did not spoil it though as the show was still a lot of fun and a cup of wine helped the immersion. This was one of those nights where it was in the negatives so it was very cold on our way out. We also had to go to the 7th floor of the parking garage despite getting there 45 minutes early there are multiple plays going on at once so keep that in mind.
I love coming here to see the shows. But please be aware, if you are even slightly larger than the average person, you will be very uncomfortable the whole time. The arms of the chairs will dig into your sides, and you may not even be able to fit your bottom into the chair just as i couldn’t. Just know what you’re walking into. I’m tall as well so crossing my legs was not an option. It sucks but hey i guess you have to pay the price sometimes
Much Ado About Nothing in the Kilstrom Theater. Fantastic! A must-see! And the set is beautiful.
Beware, if you purchase box seats on the left side of the theater, there is ZERO access to bathrooms. Up four flights of stairs and on the right side of the theater. You'll miss the opening number. I guess it's better than spending $300 per ticket on Hamilton and looking at the back of an old white guy's head for 2.5 hours. Apparently there was a rotating stage... Another bonus: while you go to the bathroom and send your kid to wait in line for 15 minutes for water, they only take cards so you also don't get any water. Three shows in six months at DCPA and I think we're done.
Love this place. Great architecture and theatre complex.
Lady Camilla was great, the whole company and orchestra did a wonderful job.
I love going to DCPA for shows but I was really disappointed that I couldn’t exchange or at least transfer my ticket for mean girls to another show despite explaining my circumstances with my flight being cancelled and the soonest flight I could get was 12/31, the day I was supposed to see mean girls. I get that it was the production that was being strict on transferring. But it still wasn’t my fault that my flight got cancelled and management should’ve talked to the production company with all the flights being cancelled on an exception. I realized I should’ve checked again but there were two seats left on 1/1 even though the agent said they couldn’t exchange. Basically the agent told me my only option was to find someone to use the tickets or resell it somewhere and not being empathetic toward my circumstances. Never heard back from DCPA when I messaged them. Thankfully my cousin and her friend used the tickets and really enjoyed it so I’m glad I found someone but really disappointed and upset that nothing could be done since these were circumstances out of my control and the soonest flight I can rebook was 12/31. Oh well, hopefully it doesn’t happen again so I don’t need to deal with this.
This place is beautiful catch a show, or just for a quick photo op stop definitely a must.
Bought some student tickets $10 in orchestra and Ring 3 tickets for adults $15. Wonderful venue, beautiful acoustics!
I've been to several shows here and I've always appreciated the organization of the security and staff. The shows are great, the sound is great, I wish the seats were a little more comfortable though.
