Freddy's Wine Bar

Large patio on a traffic-rich corner but somehow the cars are not intruding the lively conversations of relaxed locals that might have walked to this restaurant. You seat yourself and service will bring water and a menu faster than you can find your readers. Draft selection is small but crafty and local. Their focus is on wine and cocktails with a nice selection from reasonable to decadent. I am not quite sure about the interior design that flip-flops between elevated copper table tops and wine bottles in cardboard boxes permanently stacked around the counter. I asked the waiter for a vegetarian option and he recommended the Brussels Sprouts and when I insisted on starch to go with the appetizer he offered the popular roasted potato. Long story short, the potatoes tasted off and checking the menu they were roasted in duck fat. I immediately received an honest apology and was asked several times if I am OK and if I would like something else. I always declined and enjoyed my Brussels Sprouts and beer. When I asked for the check, I again received an apology for the mishap and learned that my meal was on the house. The apology I received here was the most sincere and the way it was handled was the most concerned reaction I experienced in more than 30 years of being a vegetarian. Mishaps happen but it is the reaction that shows the commitment to customer focus. Well played.

Freddy's is truly a hidden gem in Highland Park. Really great cocktails and amazing food options. Our waitress was very attentive and everything came out surprisingly quickly. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere and the cozy decor. Freddy's is a great place for a first date or anytime you want to have a cocktail, relax and chat.

We went to get some food and drinks after an afternoon show at Red Mountain Theatre. The atmosphere is great as are the food and drinks. I only wish there was more parking - we parked on the street a little ways past its location. We ordered the small cheese board and mixed drinks. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their food. The atmosphere here is also amazing, so calm and quiet, and patio seating is perfect for nice nights. We ordered the Bacon Jam Burger and Chicken Pesto Flatbread. Absolutely incredible. The bread made by Breadworks in Birmingham was the cherry on top of the already delicious food. I don’t drink, but their wine selection was extensive, which is nice for those who want to try something new. Our server Connor was very kind and professional, and we will definitely be back soon!

Freddy's is a fantastic place to enjoy a great selection of small plates along with a fantastic variety of wine and beer. I highly recommend Freddy's - we love to eat there before catching a show at the nearby Virginia Samford Theatre!

We had an amazing “Couples Baby Shower” last night at Freddy’s Wine Bar!! The food was delicious and served hot and beautiful presentation!! It was a catered party and the management and staff couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating! Our primary server was Macy and she managed all the drink orders with professionalism and ease. Kyle, the manager, went above and beyond to manage our expectations throughout the event. All the attendees loved the relaxed atmosphere and “open” environment with glass walls floor to ceiling. Great selection of beer, wine and cocktails and specialty flatbreads were a hit! All around a beautiful evening !! Highly recommend as a lovely venue for any gathering or party !!

Wow! This place was amazing! Food was great! You gotta try the Bacon jam burger! Wine was great and service was even better! Daily was our server and she was fabulous! She was very helpful? Attentive and friendly! I would defiantly recommend!

One of my new favorite restaurants. As a Birmingham realtor, I'm always looking for great places to meet clients and friends. It's not overly noisy, but has a nice ambiance! Food is fantastic and the service is lovely.

They hosted a private event for 40+ of my friends and family and it was amazing! Every staff member was so friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic as always and the service was amazing! 10/10 would recommend and I look forward to having another event here in the future.
