What a fun tucked away spot! I love the alley entrance leading up to the doors. Cute interior and ambiance. Went for brunch with a group of 10 and it was lovely. Pricey but the food is good and our servers were really sweet. Get the artichoke dip. Awesome Bloody Mary too. Chicken and waffles was interesting - kind-of smoky flavor which was a fun twist on the usual. Oh, and bottomless coffee!
Hidden restaurant in Lover East Side. That restaurant is so different from anything you know or you been in. It’s two story place both floors have bar and rooms for pastries. Second floor has lounge with comfy couches. Big choice of red , white and sparkling wine. My Artichoke dip was good and portion was a good size . Pork chop was huge it’s good for two people. Desert was not that good and I would like for ice cream to be just a little bigger. I definitely have to comeback to try more dishes.
Good food, small portions. If you aren’t a big eater, this is the place for you. We started with the Devils on Horseback, which are bacon wrapped dates. They were surprisingly good. The Chopped Spinach Salad was colorful and good. Three of us then shared the Bone-In Tomahawk Ribeye for three. Sadly, there was a lot more cauliflower on the plate than steak. While it was very tasty, we were so hungry when we finished that we actually stopped for pizza on the way home from dinner. For dessert we had the Bananas Foster and a Chocolate Brownie. While both were okay, nether one was worth writing home about. The two best things about the restaurant are the cool location in Freeman’s Alley and the talented bartender. The Cranberry Crush was nice and refreshing, and the Ocean Front View was good as well. Maybe if we had had more of the excellent drinks, we would have forgotten how small dinner actually was.
Great delicious tasting food, but this place gets 3.5 stars for me due to lack of service and overall experience being subpar at best. We ordered the steak, pork shop, deviled horseback bacon wrapped dish and the banana foster for dessert. We shared all the dishes between 3 people and were quite full! The acoustics and noise level in the restaurant made it a bit challenging to hear the person across from me, and the seating arrangement we had was right beside the bar so people kept bumping into my chair and made the experience a bit unpleasant. Overall, the meal was delightful and I’d probably give the food 4.5 stars, but dining in is an experience and the lack of it brought this rating down to 3.
Stumbled upon this place I saw an alley with lights at the end so decided to drag my friends in the mysterious alley which was lit up with cool art work The place is huge and we just ordered drinks at the bar but the food looked really good. The staff was amazing and so was the bartender G. I will definitely be coming back here for some food and maybe check out the speakeasy upstairs. Highly recommend!!!! Get the espresso martini with tequila or the margarita both were delicious.
Loved this at the end of an alley, named Freeman's Alley. I loved the vibe at Freeman. You can imagine having a drink with George Washington or any of our Founding Fathers. It has the feel of a Colonial Tavern. I went for Weekday Brunch so it wasn't crowded. The Artichoke Spinach Dip is amazing. I had The Crow as my cocktail. It was . It's basis is Scotch and Irish Whiskey and it has Amontillado, Coconut, Ginger and Carrot. It's creamy and rich and packs a punch. The bartender, Beatriz, was a wonderful bartender. The service is good. The prices are a little high but on par for the area. I will definitely be back.
Loved this place. The artichoke dip was beyond! I could’ve eaten that one dish all night. Their cocktails are also delicious and the service was great! Such a beautiful place with great atmosphere. Would definitely come back here
Great brunch place It’s always crowded but easy to get reservations. The food is good and consistent. I always get artichoke dip which is amazing, the Mac and cheese are the bomb
Delicious brunch! Lovely atmosphere. Would to return for dinner. Mimosas was a little small but tasty. Chicken and waffles were excellent. Bacon wrapped app was AMAZING. Overall a great time!
Cool relaxed atmosphere at Freeman’s down the alley. Artichoke dip and brussel sprout salad appetizer were great- I could have had this as a main! Yum! The roasted chicken and farro was nice, but nothing out of the ordinary, however the banana’s foster brought it home. 4 stars because the service was a little slow.Dine in: Yes
