I've been a member at 727 for 4 years but this review is 4 yrs too late. If I had one regret with 727, it's that I didn't join the gym sooner when I moved to the area 7 years ago. I had never tried CrossFit before and was hesitant because of the stereotypes and the stigma CrossFit carries. 727 erased all my concerns and hesitations. I can't speak for other gyms but at this gym, the coaches are well-trained, personable, and have the utmost situational awareness which you need if you're going to be a successful gym, coaching that many people of different levels of fitness. I feel safe doing the workouts and I've made lifelong friends in my 4 years here. I highly recommend that if you're reading this review, you give 727 a call and drop in for a class. It's a very welcoming atmosphere and Ryan along with the other coaches has built a strong and supportive community amongst its members. I'll also add that I'm in the best shape of my life mentally and physically since I joined!
I love this gym. I tried several CrossFit gyms in the St. Pete area and none made me feel more at home than this one. I've been working out here for a little over a year, and I am so happy with how much I have improved. The coaches are very knowledgeable and make me feel safe with the movements we practice before the WOD. Even with bad knees, they are always there to help me modify the workout to fit my needs. Very clean facilities and one of the few gyms in St. Pete with AC - a very important detail for those hot Florida summers!
This place was great. Both the members and the coach were super welcoming, encouraging, and patient. Additionally, I did not feel any pressure whatsoever to sign up. I was ready to commit despite never having done a CrossFit class in my life and the owner really encouraged me to try the 3 free classes first. He could have easily taken my money without any regard for how I fared or how well I liked the classes. I will say after attending, I may need to work up to something like this. However, the environment here and the fitness level of the others is really giving me encouragement to take care of myself so I can return and be part of such an awesome community.
I just visited for my first time at this location and my initial impression is that this is the friendliest group of Crossfitters I've ever been with I went to the noon class. I really enjoyed this place and am planning to go back and eventually join when we get moved and settled in later this year! I really like laid-back Boxes that I can still get pushed at, and coach Ryan and the people at CrossFit 727 were literally perfect for this. I've been to boxes where the ex-military drill sergeant coaches scream in my face - I know some people like that, but I'm not one of them. Ryan seems really thorough in his explanations, and just seems like a genuinely nice guy who cares about the people he's training. He checked-in on me several times throughout the workout and made sure I was doing okay, which was nice, but he was also supportive of me working at my own pace. This place has got ample equipment, even for the larger group we had today, and all the equipment seemed clean and well kept. It's also a really cool space and works surprisingly well... the whole set up is great. A++ all the way around.
Great gym. Tight knit community. Warm and welcoming members, knowledgeable coaches, and AC! They can fit anyone's fitness level, whether you want to just have fun and workout, or get super competitive, and anywhere in the middle. Highly recommend Crossfit727!
Words can barely describe the love I have for CrossFit 727. Not only has my recently rehabilitated shoulder injury of 2 years been OK with doing CrossFit, my shoulder has become stronger than ever. These coaches and the owner are compassionate, thorough, and incredibly knowledgeable. They've left a positive impression on me for life, that's for sure.
I love this gym. Coaches and people super friendly and welcoming. I’ve been working out here for a year and couldn’t be more happy with my evolution, hard work and dedication from the coaches to transmit their knowledge and techniques for us.
One star is to many for this place. Completely unethical is the only way to describe Ryan the owner. His Coaches Kevin & Alex are extremely rude and unprofessional to the members unless you are part of their clique . I guess if the owner is unethical then the coaches are just going to be the same way. I made the mistake to call the owner and ask about the cancellation clause of the contract. I should be able to discuss anything about the contract with the owner without retribution. The next thing I know I am out of the gym and they kept my membership fee for the month even though I never got a response back from the owner. I was sent a very rude/punkish email from Kevin stating he and Ryan decided to cancel my membership and will keep the money. He made it sound like he was doing me a favor. I do not recommend this facility they are truly horrible people.
There hasn’t been a review of this box in a while, so I’ll be happy to leave one. We just moved to St. Pete, and none of the previous gyms we went to seemed to be a fit for us. I did some searching on Google and decided to try CrossFit 727. This is the best CrossFit gym in St. Pete! I was sold after my 2nd trial workout here, and my wife was sold on her 1st. The coaches are big on safety and don’t look down on you if you can’t RX a workout. The community is fantastic. I’ve only been here for a couple of weeks, and I love it here!
From the outside looking in, Crossfit can be intimidating because you see strong people doing crazy things. Luckily 727 coaches always put self-awareness over competition, and it makes for a super welcoming environment. The gym itself is in a really cool space, both literally and figuratively--in the basement of a historic building WITH AIR CONDITIONING! I'd recommend 727 for beginners, as Mel, one of the coaches, is particularly body-aware, and can help folks learning new movements find their appropriate edge, scaling where necessary. Been going for 2+ years and still love the team!
