Excellent experience today renewing my French passport. The guy at the desk who helped me was super. I’m American born and raised but my mother’s French. My French is conversational. The consulate gentleman spoke French with me however if there was something that was critical he spoke French slowly then spoke English. I admit I was worried and nervous about this visit but there was no stress at all. This is how it should be. Excellent service would highly recommend.
It's a small consulate with limited staff but they go above and beyond to help the French nationals who live in New England. I realized late that my passport was expiring and therefore I would not be able to travel internationally if they didn't help me out. The consulate did not have to as it was my fault but they did anyways. They also fitted me into their tight schedule. Merci beaucoup pour votre gentillesse a mon egard.
Not sure where the positive reviews come from… 1/ you can’t easily book appointments as the website is totally outdated 2/ the consulat rarely answer the phone during the 2hrs period they have 3/ you can’t enter the building without an appointment… In other words: you can’t book, you can’t call to raise that you can’t book, and if you show up then you can’t go up! Ridiculous.. All this without talking about the people I interacted with… very, how to say… entitled, disrespectful, arrogant…?
EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!! The staff people I met was greatly welcoming, courteous, and professional. Having driven two + hours to get to Boston, I was checked in a few minutes before my appointment and everything did not take more than 15 minutes. They said that it takes between 7-10 days to process the visa, but passport was delivered to my door two working days after my appointment. I can't feel better.
The French Consulate at Boston does not answer its phones during the very limited hours they claim to be open, 2-4 pm M-F, and does not respond to email. I have tried phoning dozens of times, following both the French and English menus, both of which lead to waiting periods that time out eventually with no possibility of leaving a message. The consulate is a classic combination of Northern charm and Southern efficiency in my experience.
I was making Visa to France in New York. Despite my bad previous experience with English Consulate their site doesn't work and there is no way to contact Consulate except Call Center somewhere in India, where nobody can really help you a very nice and helpful lady at the interview kindly approved my Visa and I got my passport at the very same day, I guess because I live not too close to NY. I've got the best impression of their work ever. Only one advise - schedule your appointment as early as possible, because their waiting time is quite long.
My husband, myself and my 6 yr old daughter had our appointment this morning at the Boston France Consulate. We were applying for a short stay schengen visa for travel in April.Took no more than 10 minutes to submit our documents. Apart from list provided , we were asked for our marriage certificate and our daughter's birth certificate. Very quick and smooth process. We were told that our visas would be ready next week. Getting an appointment here is tricky , you have to keep checking their site for available slots. And each applicant needs an appointment irrespective if you are travelling together or not. Also the website stated that only children under 6 need to be present, but I verified this and was asked to bring my daughter for fingerprints. They do accept credit cards, their website only mentions debit and cash. Also we had to submit only one photograph each, although we carried extra copies.
I cannot book an appointment coz their website is broken, showing Invalid Request Details. What is even worse, is that to re-try booking an appointment requires re-filling all application details. I did this 8 times over the last day and still couldn't get through. Why even open online booking if it isn't working? Whoever built this pathetic website must be a freaking genius.
Now I have a point of comparison, the French consulate here is amazing. I missed a couple of documents and they nicely asked me to email them and notified me when I would get my visa! Which was issued in a week. There was no line. I was served right away. Super nice and accommodating. Come to the French consulate, don't go to the Spanish consulate if you can avoid it!
What happened to the respect the employees at the consulate used to have for customers? The gentleman in charge of passport renewal center was extremely rude, threw my pictures and other documents on the counter, did not make eye contact. The French consulate might as well invest in a robot to take our documents. When I return to pick up my passport, I’ll make sure I see someone in person to file a formal complaint about that clerk.
