Good down home southern cooking with the best old fashion service. The style and atmosphere are simply gorgeous. The is made fresh to order. Try the fried catfish. Next time I'll have the BBQ ribs.
They food was delicious it was my Chapter 54 Birthday dinner. The atmosphere was very clean and pleasant.
This is one of the most unprofessional establishments ever. I called the location at 5pm to place an order for pick up. No one answers. So I drive to the location. I make it there by 5:30. People are eating and the doors are locked. I asked could I place a to go order. The waitress was polite enough to ask Mrs. Freshwater. She stated no they are closed. The purpose of business hours are to serve during those hours. If not close at 5pm.
Wonderful establishment, great food, intimate setting and excellent service. Temperature check at door and masks required. Griolled salmon, BBQ chicken and Cajun Shrimp all cooked to perfection and tasty Highly recommended.
This restaurant reminded me of my childhood best friend’s grandmother’s cooking. The owners, the atmosphere, and the quality of food are impeccable. This is a restaurant that needs to be featured because the meals are cooked with love. Try the peach cobbler—best we’ve ever had! Thanks! We will be back!
The owner and hostess was very friendly and professional. The food was delicious!!! The pork chops were seasoned well and fried to perfection. The collard greens were delicious and NOT drenched in vinegar. The candid yams were perfect and NOT mushy. Thank you for a wonderful meal experience!
The food was great, the ambience was great nice soft jazz music playing in the background the owners come out and they're friendly and they talk to you they explained their menu for the day there they have drinks there they dessert are homemade there it looks like you're just sitting and your dining room among other family members having laughs and it's it was just a great experience being there a lot of people don't know about this great place. The catfish was on fire, the fried chicken wings were awesome, the salmon croquette was was awesome this is really a great restaurant. The seating is covid conscious and they spray the tables and chairs with Lysol after every seating. Temperature is taken at the door before they seat you. The business began in New Jersey and they migrated to Charlotte. Go visit you'll be happy you did. The customer service was exceptional. Very friendly environment
The old school dining experience that I haven’t had in years was provided by Freshwaters this past weekend. My parents and I decided to stop in for a late lunch because we really wanted some fresh seafood and it popped up on Google when we searched the area. It turned out to be a great decision! When we walked in, we were promptly greeted and our temperature was taken before we were taken to our table. The table had been set and glasses of cold water where already waiting for us. Ms.Freshwater herself welcomed us to her establishment and told us all about their offerings. She was the epitome of class and takes very obvious pride in providing an excellent dining experience for her guests. Our order was taken shortly after by a lovely young lady. A few minutes after that, a member of the kitchen staff came out to serve our beautiful plates of food. The expression of “hot and fresh” is well represented. The food was so hot, we had to wait a minute before digging in. When was the last time a restaurant served your food so quickly after hitting the plate that it was that hot??? Amazing! We ordered the Salmon Cakes as appetizers and the St Louis Ribs, Phyllis Seafood Platter grilled and the Fried Catfish as the entrees. Everything was delicious. All of the seafood was fresh, seasoned and well prepared. The staff was attentive and we left very satisfied. They had a delicious looking cake on display which it is my understanding that even the desserts are made in house, but we were too full to try. The environment of this establishment is one of decorum. They have a sign that states “proper attire required” at the door. I was a little worried that I was underdressed but they seated us and treated us very well. They are located in a small strip that has its own parking. I suggest calling ahead to double check hours and availability. While we were seated right away, there was a long line out the door by the time we left.
Words cannot express my gratitude for the outstanding service, delicious food and everything being beyond my expectations! Mrs. Freshwater was very professional and accommodating from my first call. I remembered the establishment from New Jersey and was ecstatic to know they were in Charlotte now. I called to arrange a private family dinner for a cousin‘s 90th birthday and Mrs. Freshwater took it from there. This is a place that you can trust the food, ambience, service etc.
