Haymaker does the upscale bar experience right. From location to atmosphere to food, it's a can't miss if you're in the area. All the dishes we tried were great but for sure don't miss the Crispy Pork Belly. It was super flavorful and cooked perfectly, seriously wanted to lick the plate. There is a nice park and minor league baseball field right across the street, come for the food and stay for the fun. Overall, I would definitely come back for another round.
If the hubby leaves hungry we usually don't return. The $28 gnocchi were ridiculously small, and brought at room temperature. The pork shank was also almost cold, tender but on the dry side. The hamburger was very good, and the shrimp, while not peeled, tasty. We also had smoked wings, very tasty. Overall, low value for what you receive. The burger was the best. Service was ok quiet quiting comes to mind.
I really enjoyed this place. I walked from my hotel so I can't remember the parking situation. I ordered French toast and bacon. My friend got shrimp and grits. And we both enjoyed the spicy margaritas. The inside is SUPER NICE and well done without making you feel like you need to be super dressed up. I would definitely come here again.
The food was OUTSTANDING! Service was incredible. ALL staff we interacted with - including a 20 minute conversation with the sous chef - were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is beautiful. We had an amazing experience and will definitely return!
Amazing place!! The space is so beautiful with its high ceilings as large windows. It lets in so much natural light. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I felt very taken care of. Each menu item was so good that we had a difficult time finishing it all. Loved the cocktails as well.
Food was great mushroom toast, heirloom salad, pork belly & NY Strip. Service was terrible. From the moment we walked in the door, it was as if we were an inconvenience to the front of house. We were then told we had to wait for a table we had a reservation when there were about 10 open two top tables. We had to ask for clean dinner plates. They wanted us to use our appetizer plates for our shared entree. When our cocktail ran out, we were asked if we wanted more water…not if we wanted another cocktail or coffee. We were also seated near the kitchen and a lot of the staff were clowning around in the kitchen and texting on their phones. The bathroom was also very dirty. There was a giant trash bag on the floor under the sink with a ton of dirty paper towels piled up. When we left, the front of house staff was sitting at a table together talking. They didn’t even bother to say have a good night. I took a friend who was visiting from NYC and was a little embarrassed that this was the experience I gave him. Like I said, the food was great, but the kitchen can’t do it all. We went on a Saturday night and parked in the lot across the street pay via park mobile.
This is a very beautiful restaurant in a great location. There is tons of street parking, as well as close lots and ramps. The jam for the beignets was incredible and tasted so fresh. The rest of the food was good as well. We visited for brunch and the menu was a good mix of breakfast classics, and more upscale, thoughtful dishes. Will definitely be back to try more!
Amazing! We started with the biscuit with gravy. The DayTripper was a great drink, not too strong but strong enough. A little tangy but sweet too! The Bloody Mary had a really good amount of spice and “pepperey-ness.” The French toast was a 10/10. Not too rich and sweet, the whipped cream on top had hints of vanilla. The Shrimp A La Plancha was so thick yet still creamy. The whole meal was just perfect! The atmosphere was great as was the staff. Our waitress was very pleasant and quick! Can’t recommend enough.
Simple, filling, and flavorful. Visited during a Panthers game but was not too crowded. Not only were the Beignets great… but the chef did not like how he cooked our first batch and sent us a complimentary order. I personally preferred the darker harder cooked ones. Overall, I will be coming back!
Haymaker the breakfast hunger breaker . Top tier place to have breakfast so far . From the entrance, to the tall lightings , nice seating placement, the bar is pretty lit and the waiters are fantastic. Dress code : Exquisite. The food did take some time to come thru but it was worth the wait.
