Story

Based in Aurora, Fun Productions, Inc has become a force in the Amusement Rental and Event Service industries over the last 25 years. Their business is supplying clients throughout the state of Colorado and the surrounding region with interactive equipment rentals and services for various special events. Inflatables, sports games, casino equipment, carnival booths & games, team building activities, concessions and entertainers encompass their primary areas of expertise.

Fun Productions was created in January 1992 by Tim & Dawn Abbott. The company began with an inventory consisting of only casino equipment. After the last several years of expanding the company, they know have the impressive 300+ item inventory you see today. This expansion was recognized in October 1999 when Special Events Magazine named Fun Productions, Inc. “One of the Top 25 Rental Giants in the Nation”. By this point, the company had experienced growth each year that more than doubled the output from the year before! Most of this activity is seen in the busy spring and summer season, where coordinating as many as 50 events each week is fairly common. In early 2000 the business moved into its current location, a 10,000 square foot warehouse. This current facility houses the main office, and is the central spot for ten full time and more than 50 part time employees. With the addition of employees and equipment, Fun Productions is almost at capacity, and will soon be looking for a larger building!

Fun Productions boasts a client list that is about as diverse as where the job takes them. Throughout the year their fleet of seven trucks and two trailers can be seen trekking to the tops of mountains, parked beach side at Denver area Reservoirs, schlepping equipment into half-time shows at professional and college sporting events, and standing by at the production of large teambuilding events and company picnics. The company has set up in every major hotel, college campus, Metro area Park, Country Club and too many schools and churches throughout the state to count! From Holiday Parties, New Years Celebrations, Mitzvahs, Wedding Receptions, 50+ annual High School After Proms, Graduation Gatherings, Neighborhood BBQs, and Summer Community Festivals to Corporate Picnics, Collegiate Back to School Weeks, School District Carnivals, Radio Promotions and many more, this laundry list doesn’t even begin to describe the types of events where Fun Productions is seen. About 30% of yearly revenue comes to Fun Productions through Event Planners and Destination Management Companies along the Front Range. The remainder is made up of direct calls from Fortune 500 Companies, associations, small businesses, schools, churches and individuals.

This diverse array of groups calls upon Fun Productions primarily because their standard of service that outlines the way business is done. The knowledgeable office staff assists with assembling a customized contract that fits your needs. The more information they know about the event, the more they can bring to the table. Offering suggestions, working with a specific theme, reserving equipment that fits into the planned location, and bringing all the supplies to properly facilitate the rental units, are just some of the basics. At the event site, all equipment is up and running at least 30 minutes prior to the contracted time, unless other special arrangements have been made. Is staffing an issue? Attendants can be included to run any of their games. Fun Productions friendly on-site event staff is easily recognized in their uniform of khakis, sneakers and a gray “Fun Productions Event Staff” t-shirt. After each event the equipment is brought back to the warehouse to be restocked. This process includes taking inventory to make sure everything is in good condition, cleaning and sanitizing the equipment, and scheduling any needed repairs. Most repairs are made at our warehouse which means that damaged equipment is not left unattended. Feedback from our new and repeat clients is how we measure the job we are doing, and as a company, the areas where we can improve.

Most popular amongst the inflatables are one of the 9 Moon Bounces, a 28ft. tall Inflatable Climbing Mountain, Mechanical Bulls, 40 ft. long Obstacle Course (complete with climbing wall and slide), Sumo Wrestling, Bungee Runs, and the Velcro Wall, made famous by David Letterman. Fun Productions has booths, fun mirrors, prizes and over 30 carnival games to choose from, grouped into different difficulty levels, including the favorites Break-a-Plate, Duck Pond and Darts & Balloons. Their gaming inventory has accommodated a party of 3000 complete with Slot Machines, Black Jack Tables, 7 versions of Poker, Wheel of Fortune, Roulette and Craps. Several casino tables are straight from various casinos in Las Vegas! This is just the beginning. Besides all that is done at Fun Productions, the staff also makes time to be involved in the following organizations: Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, Denver Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau (DMCVB), National Association of Catering and Events (NACE) and International Live Events Association (ILEA).
