I liked this restaurant, with the story behind it, I was very curious to meet this place. The waiters, the service, the environment and the food. The restaurant can make you feel very comfortable in it. It's have a moderate cost. The food it was delicious, the texture, temperature, time. A lovely night in a nice restaurant. I recommend this restaurant!
My partner and I went for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, about half an hour after they opened. We were the only customers there at the time. Our waitress was pleasant and the food didnt take too long to get. The crabcake was delicious and the fries were well seasoned. My partner enjoyed the burger. It was a very nice lunch in a historic building.
Only at Gadsby’s can you walk back in time to an establishment where founding fathers sat and dined. The food was very good and very reasonably priced for the high quality. Our waiter was also very attentive and very good. Would highly recommend for anyone who likes a great meal in an intimate historical setting.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
I loved that the only lights were candlelight. The atmosphere of the place takes you back to colonial times. But I do have to say that Washington's Favorite was far too sweet. The "orange glacee" tasted like grape jelly all over the plate. The jelly was on the vegetables, the potatoes--it made the dish inedible to me. If you are a fan of sweet jelly all over your savory meat and potatoes, then I guess you would like Washington's favorite. In my opinion it was not good.
Really fun experience! Beautiful place that really transports you back in time. My only suggestion is that they offer one menu item that would just be plain vegetables with no oil but I realize it's a small number of people that would ask for that. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
I went here with a large working group so we got the standard 4 options, beef, chicken, fish, and vegetarian. I ordered the chicken, it was very good and everyone on my table enjoyed their meal as well. The atmosphere was nice and authentic the wait staff was nice and attentive. The dessert was good. I think it would be fun to go back with a much smaller group.
Fully expected the historic building would be the main thing & food would be secondary, but the food was incredible! The complimentary bread, the meatloaf, & the French onion soup were each exceptional in my opinion. I will be back to try dessert because I was way too full from dinner!
After going to Mount Vernon, I paid parking because the restaurant was open. My daughter and I walked in and we waited for 20 minutes, but there was no one at the counter. Many people slowly kept coming out, and suddenly a woman looks at us and rudely says... my kitchen is closed now. Idk how you couldn't be nicer or serve 2 more people, I don't think it's possible for a restaurant to run out of food all of a sudden, this was a once in a lifetime experience I wanted to give my daughter since she is the one that told me to take her there for a historical trip and experience, too bad we didn't have a nice pleasant time here. I hope whoever that rude racist lady was, that she learns to treat people, every type of people with respect! Features: No Covid-19 safety practices here.
Had an absolutely amazing experience dining in at such a historic tavern where Georgia Washington himself ate. The service was fantastic. The servers are dressed in colonial gear and it brings the place to life. I sat in amazement observing everything. The place settings are also antique and traditional to the time. The food was delicious and unbelievably cheap. I got the traditional breakfast which was a hearty 3 poached eggs subbed from scrambled eggs, thick cut pieces of bacon, perfectly cooked and seasoned potatoes and sausage. The entire meal was less than $13 and I made sure to tip well for the great service and experience. Don’t forget to go next door to get a Gadsby Tour - it’s around $8 or so but free for military!
They’re not lying when they say fine dining! The food was delicious, atmosphere was incredible, and service was great. Definitely transports you to another time. Gadsby’s is a must if in the Alexandria area, you won’t be disappointed!
