We ordered the cheese and spinach bourekas for $12.50. It came with a small amount of hummus and cabbage and corn salad. The boureka and hummus were both good but the salad was tasteless. The aircondition was not working properly, so they kept the door open to let in outside air. It is 85 degrees outside. The water they served was not iced and warmed up very quickly. The place was small and quite run down. I normally would not mind eating in a "hole in the wall" if the food is good and the price is reasonable. But this is not one of those places. My daughter ordered the mixed meat shish kebab platter for $19.50 and she complained that the meats were dry. I had the Kafta kebab platter for $16.50. It came with 6 pieces of kafta which were quite salty. They came with tahini which was watery and tasteless. My son had the lamb shank special for $26.50. As I said earlier, these are not the prices expected from a "run down, hole in a wall."
Great experience at Gazala's. We came early for lunch on a Saturday, so the place had some tables available. I didn't make a reservation because the reviews on open table informed me that it doesn't seem to be working well. The atmosphere was friendly and cozy, the staff and the other patrons were nice and warm. The handmade-to-order pita was delicious. Hummus was perfect and the dessert was amazing. We'll come back for dinner BYOB soon!
The Israeli salad was fresh and flavorful. The falafel was a little raw in the center. The service was friendly and fast.
Was here last year and returned again this year. Small place, really delicious Druze/Middle Eastern plates. We are vegetarian, and we had many yummy choices. I ate one of the ful madamas plates and we shared a selection of other appetizers and salad.
I like that this place is BYOB and they serve Israeli Druze food, which is otherwise very difficult to find in this country. Order some of their wonderful breads you can see them in the window.
If Van Gough were Druze he'd have eaten here. Tangy labne, flavorful meat pies, cool minty salads. More authentic than in a Israeli Druze village. Must, MUST leave room for the Osh Al Saraia, grandma's recipe for the best custard you've ever had.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Everything is fresh, and the staff are incredibly friendly, I almost felt as if I was home! Definitely coming back here, and I'm planning to every single day I get the chance to!! And let's not even talk about how delicious the food was! This is by far my favorite restaurant of all time, and will continue to be. Arab food at its finest.
Definitely get the goat cheese bread with or without spinach.
I had fairly low expectations going to a place I had never been before and then realizing how small the actual restaurant was. But once I walked in, I realized it was a more comfortable, close knit feeling. The waitress was wonderful and attentive. This was some of the best food I have ever eaten. The food made me stop, slow down and really enjoy every single bite instead of eating to just eat. And it's a BYOB with a liquor store across the street, you cannot get any better than that! I live about two hours away from the city, but I intend on trying to bring everyone I know back here. That's how good it is! And reasonably priced as well!!
Very small restaurant, but really cute. There were pictures of the owner and her family all over the walls and traditional decor. I only had burekas and lentil soup because I wanted a light meal, and they were okay.
