So far I’ve been treated for a late miscarriage and severe panic attacks and anxiety attacks. This hospital is the absolute best hospital in the area ! The staff are so empathetic and supportive. They’re so helpful and understanding. They treated my miscarriage delivery as if it were a live birth and I cannot thank them enough for the sweet messages they left for my spouse and I in the card the sent us home with. You can tell they’re very well trained and professional. I deeply appreciate their level of care and expertise!
Stated I would have a 6 hour wait. Fine. 7 hours and I only had my vitals checked. No urine or blood collected when I know the doctor will ask. I know that it’s wait times all over in DC but it’s not even super crowded. I should’ve just stayed home & hoped for the best. Never Again
For the past 2 months, I have been fortunate enough to be seen at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. I am new to Washington DC, so it is the first time I have experienced the level of care that goes on there. Because I have several physical issues to deal with, I am at the hospital a couple of times a week. The Doctors have been able to diagnose and begin treatment for .a couple of major physical issues that I have. The Physical Therapy team that is working with me is showing me great kindness and patience. There is a confidence and optimistic feeling among the staff that permeates the hospital. You can’t help but feel better after spending time with this crew. I have never felt so comfortable in a hospital before, or looked forward to going to it! I am so grateful for the professionalism and the knowledge that the doctors and nurses have. I am looking forward to healing in a better life because of their care. So to the doctors, nurses, therapists and the rest of the staff, please know how much we appreciate all the hard work that you do for us. You are greatly appreciated and loved! Barb Thompson
This was the BEST mammogram visit I have ever had and I am 59, so I have had a LOT of mammograms! It made me realize how important the technician is in doing the test--this Technician was outstanding! She was skillful, personable, and everything was a breeze. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I forgot her name. She said she has been doing it for many years. She lives in St. Mary's County--if it helps identify who she is. Give that woman a raise and have her train your other technicians. She is the BEST!
I used to come here all the time and the service used to be great! Now you sit in the waiting room for mad hours. The triage nurse shows no empathy and sympathy for the patients that are as true and dying pain. I sat here tonight and watch how a guy came in mad jokes and all fist let me mention he came hours after me and he got pulled to the back and now is gone. There was another young lady that's been in the waiting room for over 24 hours. Sad! I had the first triage nurse said she was going to give me some pain meds and hook me to an ivy . Nothing has happened yet. I came in due to the fact I can keep nothing down. I'm having an anxiety attack as I wait for endless hours. My pain is getting worse by the moment. Something has to been done about the service and treatment. As I write this there are three triage nurses sitting in a huddle I will definitely going to Medstar Urgent Care in the future.
Your people are great! You should have a good industrial engineer examining your processes to find ways of speeding results and physician reviews. I came in with chest pain, was triaged quickly, has a EKG within 45 minutes. The nurse told me it looked good. I waited 3 hours for a physician to review and decide next steps, then left without talking to a physician or knowing any more about my results. This can be fixed!
My stay was very good considering my broken ankle. The orthopedic surgery team got me all fixed up. The nursing staff, especially Laura, Florence and Gwen were excellent. The care techs were mostly great especially Dawn, Alexis,Lina and Martha. The food was decent, the dietary team was great especially Nita, she was always above and beyond. Even most of the housekeeping staff were compassionate and efficient. I definitely recommend GW Hospital for any care that you need.
I went to the emergency department so I have no knowledge of the rest of the hospital. I should also say that I was having major issues when I arrived and was sent back very, very quickly. I could give it a poor review because my nurse disappeared on me after telling me they needed to do a test, it took a very long time to get anyone when I called, and the other people in my room were seriously struggling. But ultimately every single person I talked to maybe 12? was incredibly concerned, compassionate, and kind, and it felt like they truly cared. They were clearly overworked and understaffed but it seemed to me that they were doing their very best. Emergency departments are wild and I don’t blame them for not being totally on top of everything/everyone. Especially since I was just chilling quietly. So I’m not basing this review on the organization which seems flawed but the people within it, who seem wonderful. And because of them, I would go back.
Though I have had less than stellar experiences in the past, this time was better. The woman at the front desk was far more pleasant than others in the past. The woman who checked me in was very sweet and efficient. Kindness and listening is a skill being lost that is appreciated when you are coming in to make sure cancer has not returned. This is stressing enough without having to deal with rude people who come off as if they would rather be anywhere else. The radiology team and the doctors doing my biopsy were excellent. Due to my insurance well my husband's I have to see GW and MFA doctors which is a pain when it can take you up to 1 1/2 hours to get in with traffic or having to pay for HOT lanes to get in in an hour. I also appreciate them doing the biopsy on the same day as the other procedures to minimize loss of pay and the other associated costs with coming into DC.
It's always a calming feeling to enter GW Hospital. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. The facility is always clean and welcoming. My mammogram technician is the BEST! She's gentle, pleasant, with and humorous with a vibrant spirit. Keep up the great work George Washington Hospital! I always recommend you to family and friends.
