If I could give zero stars I would. 8:13PM on a Tuesday. They close self check out at 8PM and only have 2 checkouts open. This new policy of closing self checkout is only recent. Giant Eagle is trying to follow Target and Walmart who is also doing this. I love this Giant Eagle but this is a terrible decision. No one thinks this is a good decisions, and customers are not happy with this. I encourage everyone reading this to give this store a 1 store review until they change this policy. The employees don’t get paid enough to have to deal with the ramifications of this. It’s a ridiculous power move.
I really enjoy shopping here. So much to choose from. Clean, good prices. Friendly staff that's always willing to help. They even have a Get Go where you can fill up with fuel
The store is huge, clean, large selection but the real gem is their catering! Soo easy for online ordering or over the phone. They called to verify. Food was ready on time, hot foods hot, cold foods cold, boxed up easy to carry! Such a short and smooth process. Prices were very reasonable and food tasted good. Will definitely be ordering again.
Great beer/wine/liquor selection. Excellent bar inside with a great space upstairs to sit and work, eat lunch from their hot bar downstairs, or bring drinks to. Great space outside to sit. Good spot for groceries in general.
Really nice grocery store. It’s nice for what it is. It has a Starbucks inside. Please remember to bring your own bags, as they charge 5 cents per paper you use. I’m cool with that though since it’s a bit better for the environment. Also they have a plastic bag recycling bin out front in case you need to recycle a ton of those bags.
I admire that they don't give away plastic bags anymore and encourage customers to use their own bags. The paper bags that they charge you are pretty useless. The handle breaks all the time. However, I don't understand why the cashiers can't help bag items into customers' own bags? When I was there, there were only two lanes with cashiers and the rest of them are self service check out. It was around 1:30pm Wednesday afternoon on 4/17/24. The cashiers were watching us bag our groceries with zero help while we are trying to pay, sign, bag, get the credit card or changes in the pocket...etc. Kroger at Chambers is better at helping customers out!
What a lively bunch that work here in the evenings…. NOT!! We were at this location at around 8:45pm on a Wednesday. They had 4-5 cashier checkout lanes open with no option for self checkout. None of the employees spoke to customers or were very friendly. The cashier who rang us up had his phone up to his face, texting while a customer waited to be rang up in front of us. My boyfriend and I thought he was looking up something for the checkout process but we soon saw that it was just a text he was sending out. This giant eagle needs help. I can’t say what it’s like during the day but I can tell you it’s not ideal at night.
8pm on a Thursday. 2 lanes open. No self checkout. Line backed up with 45 people. Terrible customer service.
Clean nice store. Above average prices. Super slow full checkout. Zero baggers but they did have a guy standing there observing today I spent 21 minutes in full checkout. The team picked the one and only lane for full checkout where the belt didn't work. Very poor staffing amd management decisions today. I may start driving across town to a more affordable and better staffed location.
Changing my review from 4 stars to 5 stars because of Tim, the wine guy. Not only is he incredibly helpful, but he's also one of the most pleasant associates I've ever interacted with. I can tell he really knows his stuff. This is now my go-to place for any and all wine purchases. Sure, the selection is great, probably the best in the city, but there are other nice wine shops in Columbus. However, this is the only place you'll find Tim, and he is certainly worth the trip.
