I don't get my hair cut that often, and have never formed a relationship with one stylist, so over the last 4-5 years I have had my hair cut by several of the stylists at Glynn Jones, and every time I've been very pleased with the results. During that time I've twice injected color: once when I was growing out home-done colorant and didn't want a line as it grew out, so got some subtle color at the roots. The second time was to inject lowlights before summer so hair wouldn't turn totally white in the sun. Both times I got natural-looking beautiful results. The salon is pleasant and low-pressure, and the lighting is very good so you see exactly what you are getting before you walk out. All the practitioners there really know what they are doing. I don't see how you can go wrong there. Recommend!
I am not writing this to get a free fix from the salon -- I am getting my hair fixed elsewhere, so if the salon reads this, there's no need to reach out offering me any kind of accommodation. The receptionist and other stylists were super friendly and welcoming, so I cannot complain about that part of my experience. However, the actual services I was provided were sub-par at best. First, I paid $35 as an add-on for a "deep conditioning" treatment, which involved my stylist putting something on my hair for about 1 minute maybe before rinsing it off; this was the ONLY conditioning I received after getting my hair colored. Second, I've been getting my hair colored for over ten years; I get a very simple all-over color job, and every single time I have done so I was able to choose from actual samples the colors I wanted to go into the mix. Here, however, I had to merely describe what I was hoping to get verbally -- a warm chestnut -- and never got to see the colors that were being applied to my hair. When it was done, it was NOT warm at all -- it is almost black, similar to a fake Halloween wig; it was and is not shiny; my hair looks dead and stringy; it feels dead and straw-like probably because there was virtually NO CONDITIONING after the coloring; there are parts of my hair that aren't colored at all, which is actually a good thing because the color I got is so ashy and horrible. I should say that my stylist did let me choose from a couple of google pictures to give an idea of the color I wanted and I still did not receive what I asked for. Third, and not a negative, my stylist did a great job cutting my hair-- absolutely cannot complain about the cut and styling services. Overall, my total + tip was $215 and I'll be paying at least that to have it fixed, if it is even possible to fix without further damaging my hair, which was not damaged at all before I went here.
This place was great. I was visiting out of town and they were recommended by a friend who gets her hair cut there. I had some trepidation, since I was growing my hair out to be donated. But Shirley listened to everything I had to say, then considered what kind of cut would look best on me, did her magic. She was pleasant too, not too talkative, not too quiet, just right! And in the end, she did an awesome job even though this was apparently the first time she was executing this particular style. And when I told her that I had to leave a bit early for another engagement, she was understanding and did everything she needed to on time. Great salon!
I rarely write reviews about places I visit, but I think this salon in the heart of DC deserves it. The staff is very kind, cordial, welcoming. The place is clean, tidy, and everybody just chats away their haircut. You feel like visiting a group of friends, and this was my first time!!! I did not have an appointment, and the receptionist was sooo nice to look if there was anybody that had time to give me a haircut. And then Zoey appeared and she did the magic! She really took care of my hair, listening to my preferences in style and giving me great advices. She is just AMAZING! I really had a delightful time while my hair were done, and the result was phenomenal! So thank you very much!
Had my brazilian keratin treatment done by Tanisha. She has a great personality and is so much fun to talk to. I love my hair. It is softer and so much easier to manage. Makes a huge difference. Had a great experience and it is a week later and still very happy. Thanks Tanisha!
Awesome job by Philip! Highlights + cut + blow dry. He is efficient without rushing and has a pleasant, easy personality. The salon has a cool vibe. Highly recommend, I’ll definitely be back to see Philip.
Relocated and traveling on two week business trip and needed a cut. Zoey was awesome. Personable and professional. I told her not to recreate what style I had but do something new and we came up with something that looks stylish, fits my lifestyle and makes me feel great.
Tawny Bottiger moved here and does an amazing job. I definitely recommend heading up to her new space. She cuts my hair and also my sons. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
I had a stylist at Jon David Salon destroy my hair two weeks before my wedding and Wes at Glynn Jones saved my hair. My wife is forever grateful because of the awesome job he did.
Mark is fantastic! I've gone to him for Keratin treatments and cuts and always leave loving how my hair looks!
