Go Driving School, LLC

I cannot say enough about the instructional model of Go Driving School, LLC. My teen initially insisted on another program that 'did it all in one day', but driving and all that it implies is not a topic to cram into a young mind in one day. I loved that the content was delivered over two instructional days, with an hour in between for a fun Downtown Lawrence lunch hour. I feel our son had the opportunity to learn and retain content in a meaningful way by breaking it up over two Saturdays. We were also impressed by the quick turnaround time to schedule driving; I've heard other schools have a very long wait...which, application of content is needed fairly soon after learning. Also, Walter and John were 'the man', according to our son-- he enjoyed learning from both and their real-world and sometimes catchy phrases with motions stuck with him: 'when the windshield wipers are on, the lights-are-on' will now be stuck with me, too. Lastly, I love that the Lawrence location had a variety of students from all walks of life--our son had the opportunity to meet people from other parts of the world learning to drive for the very first time, some as adults. I intentionally wanted him to see the privilege and responsibility that driving is, and learning alongside others who are learning to drive while balancing cultural and language demands helped broaden his experience, too. I never really write reviews for anything, but I have to tell you how amazing Go Driving School is. I am an adult and did not know how to drive. A combination of life events and then fear after a terrible car accident left me afraid to get behind the wheel. I finally decided that I needed to learn, though - at least for emergencies or something. So I did my research and talked to a few people and the folks at Go Driving seemed the friendliest and most knowledgeable. Thus, I enrolled myself. I went into the class nervous about not knowing rules of the road to graduating as an able driver. I am now the annoyance of my friends and family because I correct them on their driving. If you are a parent and want your kid to learn the rules of the road - and learn them properly - I highly, highly recommend this school. Incidentally, they were very capable at teaching people from all walks of life. My first language is English, but my class alone had people from several other countries and from several other backgrounds, including Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, to name a few, and I feel like those students were learning just as easily as I was. To make a long review even longer, I actually enjoy driving now. I never, ever expected to do so. I don't think I would be able to do so without having had a proper driver's education like the one I received from Walter and the rest of the instructors. Thanks, you guys. Perfect for anyone trying to do a refresher course. Walter was very nice and clear about stuff you need to take care of and he doesn't let you panic.
