Customer service and hospitality needs improvement definitely. We asked the hostess if we could be seated in the shade as it was not busy and plenty of different seating options were empty and she replied " that section was just cleaned for dinner and is unavailable " I was hungry so I didn't say anything. Never been told I couldn't have more favorable seating in a place that was almost empty. This place has decent food but the staff needs a pick me upper and some enthusiasm. We were rushed to order and reminded that lunch was soon ending. Over priced food for understated dishes. Hire people with personality.
Such a great place!! The food was delicious and the staff was great even with it being busy. Honestly every person was just great. We had two different sushi rolls, both amazing. Also the short ribs and roaster chicken were very good. The atmosphere is also very pretty. Overall I really love this place.
I’m a huge fan of Roy’s restaurants so I was super excited to try this place. It was easy to get a weekend reservation and they seated us outside on a nicely landscaped patio. The service was laid back and the waiter was helpful. Overall felt like the food was overpriced for what it was. It was good, but not amazing. Favorite part was the free spicy edamame in the beginning along with the sesame salad. The misoyaki butterfish was a letdown.
Excellent food and service nice outside seating. We had edamame in soy sauce garlic fantastic the appetizers Fry basket fried portobello mushrooms with incredible cream dipping sauce bruatta cheese bread with salmon so flavorful and dessert halo shave ice there was so many amazing flavors and different textures so refreshing this desert! We will be back for sure it’s a real culinary experience worth the price for everything.
Absolutely wonderful meal! The food was delicious, we had the lobster tail spaghetti & the braised ribs 100% The "old fashion" drink was perfectly made, strong & tasty. The service was great all staff attentive & friendly. It was my wife's birthday meal & they definitely made it feel special. Thanks for everything. We just moved here and will definitely be returning to GOEN.
First time coming here and our experience was perfect! Made our reservation for 2 via OpenTable for 6pm. We got there, showed our proof of vaccination along with our IDs, filled out a contact tracing form, and were promptly seated. We ordered the Fry Basket and Burrata for appetizers, and the Spicy Ahi and Lobster Bucatini for our main course. Everything was delicious! Service was stellar! We were constantly checked on, treated with enthusiasm and kindness. We came for my wife's birthday, and we got a complimentary fudge dessert that was also good! Overall, I'm incredibly happy with our experience at Goen and would come again!
Food was excellent. Our server was meh. She wasn't mean or mad or anything, but she was very short in her tone and simply not friendly. Just felt like she didn't want to be there or she thought we were going to stiff her or something. Others came to do table touch and were very friendly. Giving a 4 star because of food, and not rating service because I know servers are hit and miss at restaurants. HK style ribs, brussel sprouts, fry basket, shrimp tempura roll, shishitos, and ravioli were delicious!
As I wrote this, as of January 2020 there is a new Chef and new Manager. The menu has also changed and drinks also changed. From what I hear it’s going to become a Roy’s I will say the Steak aged is good with the Carolina sauce I think that is what it was, it’s soft and tender and just melted in your mouth. I love waffle fries and they have it here. Crunchy and add it with the Aiole sauce and you have a winning combination. The Halo Halo is what everyone says you have to try. It’s different but it’s good. For those who tried it before, I think it’s worth going back to revisit. The Chef makes a big difference in taste and quality of the dish.
Had a delicious meal last night at GOEN. Highly suggest as everyone enjoyed everything we ordered. Fry basket mushrooms! And amazingly delicious, burrata, sashimi, huli huli chicken, scallops, misoyaki butterfish, filet mignon & shrimp. Next time, I would order the fry basket for myself, the misoyaki butter fish which is apparently 15% off on Tuesdays, so the server said and filet. Mmmmm! Drinks were also good.
Had a reservation for 6. Lots of space and nice open footprint. Fine details like herb garden beds table side are a nice, unexpected touch to add to the low-key, laid back ambiance. Food is what to expect from Roy's - superb tasting and comparable price point to other area eateries! Same kid's salmon my 2 year old has come to love same consistency as Roy's Ko 'Olina - quesadilla w/ fruit & veggie starter, salmon main and cookie and ice cream dessert all for $15. Although the wait times were long, I will say that we were very grateful they brought out the kid's meal expeditiously. In addition to the kids meal, our order consisted of the market fish sandwich which was a mahi-katsu topped with bacon and coleslaw, side salad for $19, a Goen Greens salad with the filet also $19, an impossible burger, Goen brunch-plate Portuguese Sausage, Eggs and Potatoes and the poke. The refills on drinks were probably the slowest - and with open outdoor seating, the heat and humidity make drinks and absolute must. Water comes in self-serve pitchers so must ask for ice. The filet isn't like Morton's or Ruth's Chris with that salty, buttery melt-in-your mouth and was instead more gamey, perhaps from being local grass-fed. A good complement to the salad but would not hold it's own as a standalone. Overall though, the food was delicious and we paid compliments to our chef. Price is reasonable. So our rating primarily reflects the slow service - our wait staff were highly personable but for an empty restaurant, the wait was exceptionally long.
