I’ve traveled the world and have explored many gyms, however this one is by far the best gym I’ve been to. From the lounge areas, juice bar, sauna and steam rooms in the plush locker rooms, to the boxing room and functional training room; this gym has something for everyone. There’s plenty of cardio equipment although only one wrack of freeweights which I imagine could cause an issue during high traffic times. Beyond that, everything is spectacular. All of the equipment seems to be up to date, there were no broken machines and plenty of room to workout without being crowded. I only wish there were one of this caliber in Los Angeles! Well done!
Love this gym! Terron & Daniel are always so friendly, and helpful. Been here for going on a year, and the only issue I've had has been with the parking garage staff. Otherwise the gym and staff are awesome!
DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM - BAD EXPERIENCE!!!! Do not join this gym. The problems with this location are numerous. Management turnover is high. I've been a member for 3 months and have seen 3 different general managers. Parking is an issue, this facility is in the epicenter and will validate parking for 2 hours - which is great. However, often they don't open on time so you spend 30 - 60 minutes waiting for them to the open the doors and they cannot extend the validation to accommodate their delay. They cannot seem to hire good people that show up on time. When you express frustrations or complain, management simply offers a free smoothie. The equipment is poorly maintained. Much of pads/seats are torn and can cut you if you aren't careful. The locker rooms aren't cleaned regularly - as evident by the STRONG mildew/mold smell coming from the men's locker area and steam room. There is mold in the steam room and is always littered with trash. The showers frequently are out of soap. The towels are tattered and worn. They make you sign them out. This place is disgusting. The sauna does not have flooring. Just the concrete floors which is disgusting. They tell you everything is under repairs...to date nothing has been fixed. After two months of complaining to the general managers, I escalated my concerns to the corporate office. Unfortunately, they have a "customer care" team Bonnie who refuses to give the name/contact information of the management team. Are they hiding because they know the poor services? I've been to many Gold's Gym's across the country, this is the worst. Gold's Gym should do a better job of screening the franchise owners, this location has given this organization a bad name in Charlotte. I've now escalated to the NC State Attorney General - clearly the issues show a misrepresentation and is grounds to terminate the contract. The salesperson made it clear they were renovating and updating. Nothing has been done.
I had joined this gym in March of 2016. During my time at the gym, the machines were not maintained very well - especially the treadmills. There was also always something not functioning in the men's shower room, whether it was individual showers or the steam room. For a gym that has the audacity to charge a $50 "maintenance" fee every six months, this gym should have been in better shape. Also - during my seven months of being a member at this gym, I had 2 pairs of Beats headphones, an iPhone and $80 stolen from my locker. I got to the point where I stopped leaving my items in the lockers and started to carry it around with me inside of the gym. On top of that - I got a job that moved me across the country and cancelled my gym membership. It is over a year and a half later and I just found out that I have a delinquent account with this very gym for not cancelling my membership - despite the fact that I sent them a letter with confirmation of my cancellation and paid the $50 cancellation fee. Now - I am STILL getting the run around on this issue. This is disgraceful and really shows a complete lack of respect for your customers. This is a gym - it's ALL about the customer! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!
The uptown gym makes a lot of claims about being "Elite" and the 2nd best Gold's gym in the nation. Its not. It took them months to fix the bench in the men's sauna, the men's locker room is literally 85-90 degrees in the summer so you walk out still sweating. The workout area is small as well. To top it off, even after your 2 year contract is up, you have to send in a certified letter and that's your 30 day cancellation notice. The one thing going for this gym is that the staff is really nice, the owner that sets these policies is ridiculous.
I tried the free pass and went in a couple times to work out. Gym was decent. Prices were expensive but it's uptown so what can you expect. I needed to find a gym close to home. After deciding to join the gym, a couple of days later, I went in to do the paperwork and was actually talked out of it by a fast talking salesmen which happens to be the GM. His pushy upsell attitude made me very cautious. I don't like being pushed into making a purchase so I left. After careful consideration, I accepted all the gyms flaws and came back in, where I saw a different front desk agent was very unhelpful and customer service was lacking. I was on the fence about this gym at first but the last experience made my decision for me. I can't justify paying so much monthly and a semi annual "Gym improvement fee" with the service being so bad.
I went to this gym to get a membership, unfortunately they don't accept Prime. I did workout there 3 times and I have to say they were extremely friendly. The guy that showed me around was very knowledgeable in the gym and the amenities. The gym was clean and also had a great flow with enough equipment for me to maximize my workouts. There is no pool but that's not a deal breaker. I go to the gym twice a day 5 days a week so, I like a gym that's clean with options. The only reason i give it 3 stars is because they don't accept Prime. Gyms typically make more off Prime memberships, maybe there is something I don't understand. In the event they start accepting Prime I'll be first in line to sign up. BTW They will validate your parking so, no need to worry about the outrageous parking fees in the Epicenter parking structure.
Worst experience ever! Gold's Gym staff act so nice at the beginning, so you sign up. BUT it's a contract house. You are NOT signing up for a Gym. You are signing up with ABC Financial Bank. They own your contract, and there is NO way out unless you move far away from any Golds Gym OR are disabled. Showers are terrible here. They also have workout drinks, but they always out of powder mixes. if you can ever find someone to serve it to you. When you first go in and talk with them, they make it urgent; they say this deal will only last until the weekend. But it is BS. It's a lie. These guys are incentivized to get their quota for the month. They will tell you anything so that you will SIGN the contract. But be WARNED. They do not show you the contract "entirety" They show you it on a small screen that has some bullet points and a signature line. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT FOR A GYM. There are many better options out there without contracts. These guys will eventually have to change their model for them to stay current. I've been to many gyms. Gold's Gym is by far the worst in customer service. Try and give them a call? I think not. No one will answer. There isn't even a main customer service line that is active. By the way. I think they purchased "fake" reviews for Google that's why they are averaging close to four stars. When you look at all the "Real" reviews; they are all one star.
Beware of recurring fees! I had an annual membership and moved from the area after only 5 months. After having not gone to the gym for 7 months, I receive a letter from a creditor saying I owe Gold's Gym a new annual fee. Totally try to pull a fast one on customers with the contracts. Also, I am told I have to MAIL A LETTER certified mail, of all things! to cancel my membership. In short, the contracts are written to hit you with automatic renewals, and the cancellation procedures are made such that it is annoying and difficult to cancel. Besides that, the gym is nice, clean, and in a good location.
Don't waste your money and time here. It's a disgrace to the Golds Gym reputation. The gym is filthy. Cardio machines are always broken and don't get fixed. there's no gym etiquette. All the guys don't rerack their weights, making it difficult for the girls to use the entire upstairs. Employees are always busy socializing and you have to wait 20min at times for someone to come to the front desk. The smoothies they offer are not made properly and are disgusting. Tanning beds are dirty and not disinfected--and no one is ever there to even let you use them. I've waited at the desk for nearly an hour before. The trainers leave tons of dumbells and dirty cleaning wipes all over the floors. Most importantly, the gym staff and manager is aware of all these issues and simply refuses to make changes. Don't. Waste. Your time.
