Recently became a YMCA member and the Gateway Village location is my go to as it is across the street from my office. I have been a few times in the morning to lift, stretch, and shower after running. It has always been pretty low key and I have yet to wait for equipment to do the remaining pieces of my workout.
The best of the Ys in Uptown CLT to be honest. Although it has no pool or working steam room anymore, both of these are more than compensated by the fact it does not get nearly as busy at Childress or Dowd do during peak hours. It's also nice to not feel like you're working out in a dungeon. The weight room and lockers also have a really good vibe thanks to the large windows tinted and not ofc and the vast amount of natural sunlight they let in. The feel of the place at noon +/-3 hours = priceless.
While this YMCA is smaller and doesn't offer as much equipment, I like how open it feels. You don't have to wait for machines. The women's locker room also has a small stretching room for privacy.
Express Y solely for adults perfect for morning lunch and afterwork workout sessions. One major plus is the towel service. validated 2 hr parking at 705 W 5th st bring in parking ticket and scan at front desk.
Great place for workout and very friendly front office reception, specifically Maxine. And Ruby, they help ,they give directions and very very nice people, I highly recommend it
Nice staff and facilities. Plan ahead and visit their site to see the amenities offered and parking instructions so that you can know what to expect.
My favorite Y in the area. It has a great staff and Kyle. It can get busy after 5:30pm so I always got in before then.
Huge building alot of space occupied by private companies. But have a nice cafeteria and YMCA on premises
Best YMCA around. Its a bit small and no pool but love the location and staff.
I absolutely love the employees here. I do think it’s a shame they don’t have trx upstairs though.
