Great shop - quality hats, with professional, knowledgeable staff. These hats will be with you forever. Frank was very discreet, patient and knew what hat would suit each customer
Not much stock, and most of it much less impressive than the hats on the websites. I had a gift card I'd never used mainly because of the same reasons I'm about to elucidate, but had a hard time finding a hat that both looked good and was in my size. The one fellow working there wasn't very helpful. The only had that appealed to me that was in my size was sold out online, or if have gotten it online. I asked for sanitizer before trying on hats to avoid possibly soiling the hats but he suggested I go next door. I wound up washing my hands using my water bottle. I did get the hat but I doubt I'll ever get another here.
My partner and I love this place. We have to stop ourselves from going because we just keep spending our money here. Great hats, great service, beautiful little shop. The pins and feathers and hat belts are all great too. They also clean hats at no cost! Even if they weren't purchased there. Can't say enough good things about them.
Goorin Brothers hats are among three best made, in my humble opinion. This is the Goorin Brothers on Bleeker Street in Manhattan There are also two others in Brooklyn. Their felt hats are priced around $150.00, some a little less. I'd say the felt hats are well worth the money, the straw hats usually around $90.00, add flat caps and newsboys also around $90.00. Maybe I could find a less expensive flat cap, but these are better made and better looking than those you'd find at a department store. Spend your hat money here!
Went by the store twice today. Once at around 2pm, only to find a sign on the door that said “In a meeting”. Just came back again 5pm - sign said open, but the door was locked. I guess doing business isn’t a top priority…
Very pleased with the quality and selection even for my great big dome. Purchased two hats. The salesman was a delight to work with and made brilliant recommendations without getting in our face at all. Can't wait to need another hat so I can come back to this shop!
Not a good experience. Attempted to exchange a hat for a smaller size of the same hat. It was a gift and didn’t quite fit. Took me about twenty days to make it back into the store. They have a 14 day no return policy, and they also won’t accept exchanges past this time period. Which is odd, most stores are thirty days. I understand not giving money back, but to not exchange an unworn hat for a smaller size when it was purchased less than a month ago is just bizarre.
Had a great experience at Goorin Bros today! We had a location in Oregon but since it’s gone we specially made a trip to buy a new hat or two while visiting New York. The guy and girl waiting on us were really helpful and so nice even when the pompous jerk with the accent demanded he have their attention because he had been buying hats from them for years. They showed great restraint, as did my girlfriend, and complete professionalism while he berated them. Next time we’re in town we will definitely be back!
Came to this store on Saturday morning around 11:30. The guy working did a terrible, terrible, terrible job. He did not greet us, did not help us at all and was rather grouchy as if he was doing the biggest favor for being there. I had a $300 budget to get a Panama hat. Took my business to JJ hat where I was treated like the most important person. The sales guy was so terrific doing his job that I ended up spending $680 and instead of one hat, I ended up buying two. It’s sad to see business like this have owned several Goorin Bros hat before losing a loyal customer like me. Luckily, the bad experience gave me insight to go explore others stores. Hall-full glass, hum?
Small store but a really great selection for both men and women. When I got to the store they unfortunately didn’t have the hat I wanted in the store so I ended up spending more on a Christmas present for my dad than I was planning but he loves it. I recommend calling ahead of time to talk with someone about the hat you're interested in if you’re going in person. They have multiple locations. The staff also were cool and were showing me all the different styles and how to wear them. I’m definitely going back to splurge on myself one day.
