Its such a bummer to see the few negative reviews. My experience here yesterday was fantastic. Kristin maybe Christine was so kind and helpful! They have such great plants and its fun to walk through. Its like a little nature walk through a Brooklyn jungle I only wish they had more prayer plants! But I did find a great, healthy Japanese Painted Fern.
The place looks lovely and the plants seem beautiful, but after a long trek with my dog I was surprised with a “no dogs allowed sign”. Since it’s outdoors, I didn’t anticipate it. I I wish they stated that on their website. I also tried to make contact with whoever was inside, but they wouldn’t even come to the door, so it was a double disappointment for me :
After visiting four different plant nurseries upstate, we have finally found our favorite verdant Japanese Maple tree here in the city! Beautiful plant collection! Wish I live closer so I can take a peek once a while.
Been going here regularly the last 2 years and has become my main gardening store! Great selection of everything you’d want for a backyard vegetable + herb garden. My only recommendation is to not buy the soil as it’s crazy overpriced but the plants are very reasonably priced.
Stunning gardens and beautiful selection. Truly a hidden gem to stumble upon. So happy I did. Also, pleasant staff! Thank you!
The owner literally threw coffee on me after my dog peed a little in the gravel outside. Bummer too because, I was slated to purchase a bunch of plants for my house. Thought about pressing charges, but decided the lady must have been having a bad day. Ended up going to Chelsea garden center which had a better selection, better prices, and nicer staff. They even gave my dog a treat!
I stumbled across this gem yesterday. I needed several house plants and showed them the pots that I had and pictures of where they'd be located in my home. Sarah and Michelle put together the most incredible array of plants, helped entertain my toddler, and get everything into the stroller. I potted and arranged them this morning and I feel like my room is transformed already. I truly wonderful experience. Thank you.
The owner is a sadist. After she entertained multiple email exchanges and visits to see her, after sending her photos of our space, after creating a board on Pinterest at her direction, what did we get from this woman? NOTHING. Not even the courtesy of a response to our email begging her to tell us if she didn't want to design our garden. If you don't want your beautiful garden poisoned by this egoist's attitude, go somewhere, anywhere, else.
A wonderful little secret hidden away in the neighborhood bordering Red Hook and Carrol Gardens with an enormous variety of outdoor plants and trees as well as an exotic selection of indoor plants and accessories. I love their use if kiwi vine to provide a shady workspace and counter.
This is where you go if you want head-turning plants. You'll find things you've never heard of that you can't live without: native perennials are well-curated and not the usual suspects you see in every garden center, and the selection of annuals is fantastic. The staff, for the most part, are helpful, but you're really going to Gowanus because there's no place like it for unusual
