The restaurant is seat-yourself, but the service was excellent. I had a server with water and a drink request at my table in less than two minutes. Very friendly staff, fast food from the kitchen, and though I only had soup and an appetizer I was very impressed. Their Chicken and Wild Rice is a little bit soupy I prefer creamy but the flavor was spot on, and required no salt added. The steak bites weren't dry and the onion slivers were like little onion ring bites. The tangy sauce tasted a bit too ketchupy it worked for the onion rings, but the horsey Blue cheese was a perfect match for the steak. I would certainly visit again when I have more time and try the steak sandwich or burger. Looking forward to trying more of the menu!
Maddie was phenomenal. Delicious drinks and lovely armosphere. If you like olives, get the Pond is Good for You and ask for extras. YUMMY.Service: 5/5
What a great place to dine. The menu has a mix of feel good food meatloaf/potpie to trendy delicious burgers. We dined both Friday and Saturday and had amazing servers/staff both evenings. My coffee cup was never empty and my belly was full. Do NOT pass up the waffle dessert!
Good food and great drinks. Loved the atmosphere. Felt rushed by the server thoFood: 4/5
My 5yo was served Rancid Milk. Clearly the kitchen isn't checking dates on things. Food in general was very mediocre. The loaded Mac n cheese was supposed to have beer cheese and pulled pork.. the cheese was ordinary at best, no hint of the flavor that is typically found in beer cheese..the pulled pork tasted boiled and wasn't pulled, but more cubed. Also there were large modules of cartilage in the meat. The carne asada street tacos were over cooked and the pasta bowl was flavorless mush. The waitress was incredibly nice and you can tell she's having to be the filter between a struggling kitchen and the customer. As a tourist, it's possible this was an odd night, or a new staff, it's unclear to me, but if the restaurant is going to charge a mandatory service fee to "keep good staff".. your staff probably should be checking dates, seasoning food and not overcooking the piss out of everything. Place looked nice, it's a shame.
Overall the ambience was quite nice. The food overall was tasty however over-salted and I did find a long "fluff fiber" on to of the burrito bowl..... I included the restaurants descriptions and prices under the pictures of our food. Was surprised that the Humpty ducky was 1/2 of a deviled duck egg. But was nicely presented. Our waitress was busy and short with us and it took a while to get our order in, luckily we were in no rush. I can't say that I would be going back as I find the cost per portion / overall was just a tad too high for value. I also did not feel we were valued guests but again this could have had been because it was so busy.
We dined here only because it was close to our hotel and it looked interesting when searching online. We were so impressed we made dinner reservations for the very next evening as well. The Tamarind Chili wings might be the best wings I have ever had. Asian inspired flavours with citrus and a really good kick to finish it off. Absolutely done to perfection. The Singapore Broil was prepared exceptionally well. Tender and full of flavour we paired ours with cheesy garlic mashed potatoes and the green beans. The small plate was more than enough for two, with sides. The gin and tonic is made with in house tonic. My wife loves Gin and tonic and promises it it absolutely worth it I am not a fan of Gin. The tonic is made with a hint of lime and it has been perfected. The Old Fashioned is done really well. A twist on this cocktail being made with whiskey but the flavour is excellent and the duck ice puts the presentation over the top. I enjoyed two of them during dinner. Great food and great location right in the heart of downtown St. Paul.
I really liked the mushrooms and onions on my French Dip but the meat was pretty dry. The service was very friendly and welcoming so we will give this place another chance!Food: 3/5
This is definitely a great spot for the lunch crowd in downtown St. Paul. It has easy access from the skyway and there is metered parking on the streets nearby. The menu has a lot of great options and a good variety for people with a variety of dietary needs. The food was good, but not great. My French dip came out a bit undercooked and with a lot of gristle. However, the other person in my group had a great lunch and enjoyed their meal though. The staff was friendly and our food came out quickly. I would definitely recommend this place as a lunch spot to an out of town co-worker.
1pm on a thursday, dead slow at the place. order fried calamari. looks like half was missing.. lol beside that.. it came to us soggy and cold. we tried the fish and chips, again this place was not busy, fish came out soggy. i can probably conclude they dont know how to set the correct fryer temp. lol wanted to like this place.. not it was a disappiontment.
