I have had the absolute WORSE experience with this dental company. I do NOT recommend anyone bringing their business here. I got braces through Great Expressions and in less than a year that i have had my braces i had my first doctor relocate which i was very upset about because it was upon meeting with him for my consultation that i chose Great Expressions. Then i have just received a call that my new orthodontist has left the company and they do not know when they will get a new orthodontist to replace him and therefore have to call me back to reschedule my next visit. I am 25 years old and paying a lot of money each month and i expect much better customer service than this. Again, i am highly frustrated with company and do NOT recommend anyone going to them.
They will recommend expensive procedures but then be incapable of explaining why they are necessary. For me, they recommended a deeper cleaning, but the cleaning was worse than any prior cleanings I've ever had. The entire cleaning was 18 minutes long, and yet they felt it was worth charging an extra $90 for. I will clean my teeth with sandpaper before I ever go to another Great Expressions Dental Center again. I highly recommend you stay as far away as possible. I wish I could post a review with negative stars but that doesn't seem possible.
I started going to them in fall of 2010 because they accept my health insurance after treating with a family owned practice for 2 years. I went to them for one routine cleaning and they were fine. The second time I went to them they did X-rays and told me I needed a "deep clean," which costs $1,200.00 more than a routine clean. I refused and went back to my old dentist, who I trust. He told me I did not need one and I just did a routine clean with him. Three months later I called Great Expressions again to set up a routine cleaning and they said they would not treat me unless I got a deep clean. They refused to do a routine clean. I will not be returning. This is a corporate group whose primary interest is to up-sell their patients. I DO NOT suggest anyone treat with them. If you have to go to them because of your health plan, be very wary of any non-routine treatment they're suggesting. Based on my experience, it is likely unnecessary and prescribed only to increase their bottom line.
I recently went to the West Peachtree, Great Expressions location and at first was skeptical because of all the negative reviews. However, my experience was excellent and I plan on using this location in the future since it's convenient and I like really liked the dentist and her staff. They were very friendly and upfront about my costs and what treatment I actually NEEDED vs trying to up-sell me. Apparently this location has replaced the previous dentist and staff within the last 2 months and it seems to be very different than what I read on the reviews. I definitely recommend going here if you live/work in Midtown/Downtown.
My initial experience with Wilbert with Great Expressions Dental was pleasant. He set up my appointment quickly and took down all of my information, including insurance. He also called the day before my appointment to confirm it. I had almost arrived at the dental office when I received another call from him. He put me on hold for a long time and then returned to tell me that they actually would not be accepting my insurance after all. When I expressed my frustration that he was just telling me this now, when I had already arrived at the office, he lied and said that he had left me a message telling me this information. I double checked the voicemail he left just to be sure, and no, he never mentioned anything about any problem with my insurance. Long story short, I wish I could even comment on the quality of their dental services, but alas, I didn't even get that far. I most definitely would not recommend this business. They wasted my time, behaved very unprofessionally, and treated me disrespectfully.
Been coming here for about 2 years. So far I'm happy with my experience, never had any problems. Staff is friendly and I come out feeling my teeth are in good shape. Never experienced any issues with them trying to overcharge me or pushing me to buy anything. Also never had them push me to go through procedures I didn't feel comfortable with or felt were unnecessary. I've only gotten teeth cleanings and a cavity filled, so I can't attest to how well they handle more complicated procedures.
READ THE REVIEWS, DO NOT GO HERE. This dentist is approved by the dental insurance but they'll find ANY REASON to deny your coverage. They took some x-rays and said that I needed a deep cleaning. They then brought a form stating that I agree to pay for the service and it'll cost $800. I said no, and said just perform the service that's approved by the insurance then. They then went on a rant about how they can't do a routine clean up and that it'll cost me $800 to have my teeth cleaned. I just walked out of there. I went to another dentist and they called Great Expressions to get the x-rays, which were paid for by my insurance, and they said it'll cost $25 per copy. Again, please save yourself the headache and go someplace else.
Was very impressed with the knowledge given from the clinical staff. Many people may fear going to the dentist, but this particular office educates you as well as give you honest treatment. Most people don't understand how insurance works in reference to the plan they have. Dentistry can be expensive and Dr.Wilkerson and the staff try everything within their means to avoid expensive out of pocket cost. No one wants to have treatment done if its going to give them a dis-service. I would recommend friends and family to check Dr. Wilkerson and the staff out.
Lack of punctuality and professionalism. Received 2 confirmation calls/messages of an appointment Monday morning at 7AM. I showed up early, and no one was in the office to open the doors. I waited along with another patient who had a 7AM appointment, and no one showed up. I called later in the day and sent an email to the office with no response 1.5 days later. ***** Previously they kept hard selling a mouthpiece to protect my teeth. I said I would look into getting one, and didn't think the issue was severe. When I returned 6 months later, they did not mention the previous "severe" issue and did not try to sell the mouthpiece promotion. I will be switching DDS
Wish I had read the reviews before going to this office. Let me start with saying I have never felt compelled to warn people about a doctor's office or any company before. This place will try to figure out every way imaginable to suck every dollar out of you! After your evaluation from the dental hygienist and dentist, you will have a visit from the business manager. This manager will stick a piece of paper in front of you saying this is your dental plan and for you to sign. Won't explain anything or tell you options based on your insurance other than this is the cost, this is the total with and without insurance, this is what you owe. SIGN. As an example there are 14 line items at $35 each, total $490. Inquire and get told it is antibiotics for my gums. Having had a gum infection before I just asked for a prescription of amoxcilian instead, free at the grocery store. Told I need 3 crowns, some line item have noted insurance covers it, some don't. I inquire what is this. Get told the insurance doesn't cover the "better" ones. What is better about the other ones? They will color match perfectly instead of just being white. $1400 for them to perfectly color match instead of just being white in the back of my mouth nobody will see? If I didn't ask, they won't tell. Foolishly I still had them do the regular crowns. 2 of the 3 crowns broke in the first 4-8 months, they fixed those for free. The 3rd broke in month 13 and they refused to fix it for free. Obliviously some issue that all 3 crowns break within 13 months and it wasn't from eating anything hard as I really don't. Lynn Livingston overseas this office and I was told she made the decision not to fix the 3rd for free because I didn't get the "better" one. STAY AWAY from Great Expressions and any office overseen by Lynn Livingston as she is involved with other offices besides this one. As an AT&T employee which great expressions is in our network and in the same building as us, I will do my best to warn as many fellow AT&T employees to stay away from Great Expressions.
