Great beer, lots of variety. They have very reasonable prices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The club sandwich is particularly good. Lots of seating and friendly staff. They have an outdoor fire pit that’s lovely when it’s lit. Close to theaters and all downtown events. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
GREAT beer, adequate food, and a menu that hasn't changed in forever. Let's be clear, I don't mind going there — having delicious beer certainly helps, right? I'm a founding mug club member and enjoy their beer when I have a chance to stop on in. But their menu and food? The food's OK, don't get me wrong — but the menu has NEVER changed save for maybe the price. Despite telling the wait staff to pass on the suggestion to the owners to periodically introduce some fresh new options into the menu, NOTHING ever changes and it's the same ol' same ol' every time. And because it's the same menu every. single. time. ...I don't go there as often. If they want to step up their game and go beyond just being a convenient hangout for Wild games, they should step up their menu game and introduce fresh new options each week.
This was a cute little bar with tucked away in st.paul. The bartender was so nice and the root beer was really amazing, and I don’t really like root beer. There was nothing particularly outstanding about this bar, but it was a nice place.
Great food and brews on a midday Sunday. They have a happy hour in the morning with pints at $4. Great value, location, food, and service.
Bac-N-Beer Nuts: The best bar snack ever with toasted almonds tossed with bacon, beer and sweet-n-hot spices. What a freakin' great combo!
Service was great, nice atmosphere. The beer, however, was all pretty light. Between the two of us, we had the oat stout, brown ale, scotch ale, and dark ale. They were all not bad, but nothing to rave about. Food wise, my portobello sandwich was tasty, but my husband's fish and chips were average. Ample supply of man buns. ;
Great craft beers, really good root beer, good food, great service. Was kinda quiet at 9.30 on a Friday night.
Service , drinks & beer was good and served quick for a Friday night. Do not order a Rueben sandwich absolutely terrible! There was one slice of corned beef and one slice of deli turkey on dry toast. Fish tacos, walleye fingers and salads ordered we all enjoyed. The restaurant gets pretty loud, not a spot to go for a quiet diner, but for a bite to eat and drinks with a group of friends I would recommend it.
Heads up, this review is based on the location, interior and the two beers I tried while visiting-i did not eat here. First the location near the landmark building and the public library is great. I was on foot, parking might be a challenge if you drove. The interior looked like a fun place to meet friends, clean and simple decor. Finally, the beer. I had a scotch ale and the house beer, both of which were delicious. I am not a fan of cask beers, I know blasphemy, but both beers poured very well cask conditioned. Beer purists swear by cask pulled beers, and I personally find most times beer taste flabby or stale-a testament to Great Waters is that the beer was delicious and sustained a good head. Honestly left me wondering if I simply hadn't had appropriately cask conditioned ale. Either way, delicious.
I did not try the food, but did stop in for a few beers and to check the place out. I ordered the cask conditioned Scotch Ale, my wife ordered a blonde ale. The beers were adequate, much better than the average macro brew, but in the area there are much better options. The service felt slow even though the place was nearly empty, particularly after asking for the bill. Overall it seemed like just an okay place, not exceptional in any way but also not offensive either. I'm indifferent.
