Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden

Beautiful place. Military discounted tickets. Wheelchairs if needed. The staff is very welcoming and take great care and pride in the gardens. We wish the Gardeners corner was open but the door was locked unfortunately. Enjoyed our time here. Very easy going and fun place to be. Gets humid inside the dome though, just be prepared.

Went for Earth Day (free Admission) and it was so fun! Makes a great date, excursion with friends, or family-friendly adventure! When I went they had special Earth Day events going on and it added even more fun! It looks like they do events almost every week so I would check their website/Facebook for info on those! Also gift shop is amazing so be prepared for that!!!

Beautiful, interesting exotic plants you can wander through at leisure. Rates for children (ages 4-17) make it easier for families to go. There aren't many activities aimed at children, though. Wonderful place to visit otherwise, to relax amid colors and scents. The staff is very friendly, too.

I haven't been here in years, it was too chilly to check out the outside garden, I will have to come back when it warms up. Otherwise the inside is essentially the same as it always has been. It is still interesting to look around at all of the plants and flowers. However we did discovered the Garden show room. It was cooler than the main dome and they some nice potted plants in there. Definitely go and check it out.

I was a visitor on Christmas Day 2017. Of course, it then wasn't a peak time for the facility. For the most part, generally speaking things looked fine. But after touring everywhere I could see several "brown" leafs and "spent" flower blooms needed to be removed. Thank you,----for alerting staff. I am sorry this message is getting to you so late. I just didn't know where to send.
