My husband and I were in town for the Alabama game and kept hearing about this place. We decided to make a stop. Honestly, I don’t see the hype. The prices are nice and low. The chicken wings are whole. However, the wings were NOT all that to say the line was out of the building. To my husband and I, it lacked seasoning and flavor. Sprinkling salt and pepper doesn’t help already fried wings.
Our group was in Birmingham for a tour and the guide said this is where you get the best chicken and fried green tomatoes....so our bus pulled up... The food is good wish I did hot sauce instead of lemon pepper on the wings cause it's a dry rub. The food is super cheap!! AND they sell whole wings!!! You just have to remember to order condiments for a small fee...trust you wont trip cause of the low cost of everything. They take cards but PLEASE take cash to tip them. When you are done stop next door to get ice cream or shaved ice. You won't break the bank and your tummy will be happy.
Pretty cool experience. Green Acres Cafe has a large menu of very affordable eats and family sized meals. A lot of their product is fried. Expect Smooth service and a brief wait with only 1 cashier area..Food: 3/5
This is the best wing spot in Birmingham to me! You know the food is good when you get a greasy brown bag! Plus, great atmosphere and customer service!Food: 5/5
Always love eating here.. Last week, was my first bad experience.. The okra was literally soaked in oil.. Wasn't edible.
I bought the pork chops plate but after tasting the first one it killed my taste for the second piece it was bland and dry.
This was my first time here. They talk so highly of this place but its not as good as they say. The food was cooked to order but the service was not good. I will go back again but the staff at this location can be a little more welcoming.
Took my wife and kids there because we wanted to support a restaurant they have never visited before. I told them Green Acres was good and I would eat there often when I lived in Birmingham. Today must have been bad day. The ladies had stank attitude and they charged us for ketchup and hot sauce that we didn’t get. Not sure what happen but this is not the Green Acres I remember. I will try them again when I come to Birmingham but if I get the same experience I will go to one of the many other black owned restaurants in the area. Get it together you all are too good to act like that.
I don't know what all the hype is about. They put so much sauce on my food that I couldn't enjoy it. It not only covered my tiny chicken wings but also my fries, fried tomatoes and the bread. The fried tomatoes that weren't smothered in sauce we just bland, no seasoning at all. This is not what I consider to be good chicken.
Okra a must try. Long lines but worth the wait. Cant go wrong with anything you order. Limited curbside parking.Food: 5/5
