We were desperate for a dinner spot that didn’t require reservations. We stumbled across this alley way restaurant. Great, even if you’re not vegetarian. We had pickled veggies, shrimp, beet salad. We had an issue with one of the entrees and the customer service was outstanding.
Lovely place. Great service. They are being very careful with covid so no menus when we visited. You need to look up the menu on your phone. Which I think is a great idea, only outside seating too. We had a vegan in our party and she was delighted with what was on offer.
We got there and were told that a table would be free after 15 mins by the female server. Bartender was really nice and made our drinks while we waited. Once a table was free the bartender then told us to sit down at the table. However, the service went downhill from there, we were not given water for the table, utensils or a menu for a good 15-20 mins. We even tried to flag someone down but were completely ignored. Had even watched a couple get seated, served water, given a menu and looked like they even ordered their food before anyone gave us any attention. Finally, we had ordered dinner with a bottle of white wine. I could not help but feel disliked by the female waitress who served us the wine but waited a while before returning with the ice bucket till after we told our passing bartender that we were waiting for it. The waitress finally got us our ice bucket but set it on the table when we already had been running out of table space. I thought it was funny since she had given the table next to us an empty seat to hold their bucket when there were other empty seats available around us too. We ended up having to put it on the floor. Food arrived and it was good. However, once we had finished our meal the waitress came over with the check including 20% service charge. Again, I thought it was even more funny since she didn’t bother asking if we wanted dessert or anything else to drink but spent time with all the other tables other than ours. When asking to take off the included 20% tip we were given attitude by the male busboy and no one wanted to even talk to us afterwards, practically slamming the check on the table when she brought it back. Left the restaurant not wanting to return and made sure we left some tip with our bartender because she was the only one who made any effort. For some reason, I can’t help feeling it was because I’m Asian as every table had been served soo much better than mine. We were given the explanation that it was due to the Jazz Fest event but very hard to believe when smiles/attention were everywhere but at our table.
So good. Great outdoor seating in a sweet little pedestrian alley. Great options for vegetarians and vegans which is hard to find in this city. No wait for a Saturday brunch at 1pm. Perfectly poached eggs.
Such amazing food!! For vegetarians, vegans or not!! So good we went twice in our 4 days in New Orleans! Sitting outside in the exchange place alleyway is lovely when weather permits! Shrimp and Grits cake was amazing!! Wedge salad and patatas not pictured but also amazing! The patatas I got twice and I'm still mouth watering over the flavor! Crawfish salad was a special and delicious. Dessert Vegan banana foster and a BACON sundae praline ice cream. Will go back next time I'm in NOLA for sure!!!
The flavors are amazingly out of this world. They have taken this simple uttapam from India and transformed it using local New Orleans flavor into something totally out of this world. The seating is outside and the service is pleasant. A nice place to come for casual dining.
Hands down the best curated menu in New Orleans! Being a vegetarian it’s a struggle to find veg food in the meat loving town of New Orleans. But green goddess is a must try. Their dishes are carefully chosen, from a variety of local dishes to a few Caribbean and an Indian dish, it’s just worth the $$$. Not to mention the house specials as well. A must try, hidden gem right in the heart of the French quarter.
Tiny sidewalk café opposite an art gallery in a cobblestone alley behind the Monteleone Hotel. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and choices for fish, duck and meat lovers! I had half a wedge salad without the bacon, and the Rolled Uttapam which was an inventive take on an Indian classic, the tamarind sauce spiced just right. Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. I will be coming back for 3 or 4 of the other vegetarian choices that looked wonderful on the menu. Good value, clean bathrooms, takes CCs.
I wish it was not still the case, but I am always amazed to find great vegan food. The green goddess puts all the heart and would of New Orleans in to its delicious menu. Great spot tucked away in an alley way with in the city. Lots of fun people watching to do while enjoying your meal.
We enjoyed the tofu sandwich, mushroom pate and beet salad. The beet salad came with a pepper jelly vinaigrette, which was a great combo with the beet. We had a nice spot outside and the staff was great. We did come in at peak lunch time so it took a while to get our food.
