Dr. Schmidt personifies the very best in everything he does. After having been a patient with four previous ophthalmologists, I am grateful to have finally found the best. Highly intelligent and experienced, Dr. Schmidt quickly and correctly diagnosed my eye-related issues, and performed appropriate surgery, not only correcting deficiencies, but providing the greatest visual acuity in my life - an amazing difference. And his work excellence is underscored by his staff, who share his commitment to outstanding patient care, and their individual determination to be the best they can be at their respective responsibilities. Dr. Schmidt also teaches at the JABSOM, sharing his experience and expertise with med students and, equally important, inspiring them to be medical professionals who put patients first, despite the personal sacrifice that entails. The medical profession is defined by its practitioners, and there is no finer, more capable and committed physician in his field than Dr. Schmidt. Indeed, his determination to excel is shown by his scholastic accomplishment in very selective and prestigious medical schools, and his subsequent private practice. Whether his med students today elect his particular field of medicine is immaterial; what is assured, is that they will share his commitment to excellence in everything they do, and will be invaluable medical professionals after attaining their MD degrees. Dr. Schmidt inspires students, assures his patients, and defines the very best in everything he does. In my opinion, there is no better ophthalmologist in Hawaii. Dr. Schmidt was very professional and thorough. He made me feel comfortable and secure. He removed my pterygium, which isn’t an easy surgery. My eye is clear and pterygium free 8years later! Office is clean and staff are friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt!

Dr Schmidt is restored my very poor vision in both eyes, that had astigmatisms, to perfect sight One day after the cataract surgery. I could see close ,mid range and far with out contacts or glasses!!! He is professional , very caring , kind , chose carefully the best lenses for me , explained everything clearly , invites questions and listens. All of his staff are terrific ! Dr Gregory Schmidt performed successful cataract surgery. He's extremely caring, kind, professional & transparent. He has a very professional and friendly staff...just like himself. I recently retired to HI and needed a cornea specialist. I was lucky to pick Dr. Schmidt from the internet. On my first visit he diagnosed a problem that has plagued me for 20 years. He recently did cataract surgery on both my eyes with tremendous result. I can now drive at night again. Dr. Schmidt has tremendous skills including the ability to explain things to patients. His staff and equipment are also top notch. Highly recommended!

I consider my eye doctor Dr. Gregory Schmidt the “Sherlock Holmes of Ophthalmology” for his sharp, super powerful deduction, his ability to apply his superb knowledge of the field to its application in practice. My very first consultation as he examined my eye in question, filled me with such awe, with his contemporaneous recitation of what he saw the conditions were in precise words, measured numbers and other details as he dictated them to the assistant nearby typing in the computer. The cadence built my confidence in the doctor. This opening performance was simply impressive but wait, the next after was even more, explaining the conditions of my eye in a way I understood clearly and then providing the remedies and relief. As other consultations went by, he has given me the peace of mind that I was, and am, indeed in excellent hands, it was and in fact to me, but elementary! His staff has been but most reliable they even call you few days before to remind you of your incoming appointment and then to make sure, a robot calls. Dr. Schmidt, his staff, and his facility is A+! Again, “elementary” my friends...

Writing this on behalf of my mother. This doctor did not communicate the effects of her surgery, and afterward, she was unable to see a menu. She had to have two different lasik surgeries to correct his mistake, which came with a big financial burden. He refunded the doctor portion of her bill, but the additional costs for that surgery and the lasik surgeries she could never recoup. Im not sure why this doctor gets such great reviews. Crystal clear communication about outcomes and risks should be the foundation of any surgical decision.

I was really impressed by Dr. Schmit and his staff. He is very professional yet takes the time to explain every detail and answering all my questions thoroughly. I have been to many eye doctors in my life and to me he is the best so far. I brought my mom on the recommendation of a family friend, and I will be coming here myself in the near future.

Amazing experience with Dr. Gregory. He doesn’t recommended unwanted treatments or medications and leaves your eye at it’s comfort. All you need from a doc is the feeling of goodness & relief and he gives you that! His staff is cordial and good at their profession . His equipments are top notch !
