The best arcade in town for my money.
They are in the middle of a remodel right now, but the decor in the new section is absolutely beautiful. It's an 80's style electronic look. LED lights and futuristic metal everywhere. But like... Futuristic for 1981.
During the remodel it's obvious they don't have all their games out. But they have some of the most classic games and they keep them in great order.
Asteroids in particular is worthy of note. It has so many specialty parts, but their version looks and works like new.
They also have a massive "Killer Queen" game that seems to be a modern retro boutique multiplayer for tournament play. Looks cool, but you'll have to assemble your team.
All in all, I'd put this in the nerdy top 10 for Portland.

I have a few friends that really love getting together at this place but to be honest, I have never had a good experience here. The place is extra small for the amount of people that come here. It is always packed every time I have been, which means waiting for games, or just never getting to play any games.
They have special night for unlimited play with a 5 dollar cover, which you'd think would be great, right? Not right... This just means even more people in the way of you getting to play any game, and some people will just camp on a game and never leave, so the entire time you can stand being in this place the games are untouchable.
My other issue is that the games they do have, do not really attract me. Other than the 4 person PAC-man there are few games that can accommodate a group. And one of them has tournament nights, and people are always on it practicing or something. I have never gotten any where near that game.
We recently discussed which places of this type of venue we like in Portland and Ground Kontrol is at the bottom of our list for entertainment enjoyment.

Amazing! I had so much fun. Games galore, I went nuts for all the pinball machines. Well drinks are cheap, $5, good selection of beer and lots of foods. Great place to go for 21+ video game enthusiasts.

So much fun! Get a beer, cocktail or 10 and have a blast playing arcade games from our childhood and our parents. I'd imagine anyone from 21 to 80 could find a piece of their childhood in this blast from the past place that is great for a night out with friends or even that epic Arcade date

The venue is a little smaller than I was expecting it to be and subsequently, their game selection is somewhat limited and mostly retro. However, their drink are on point and the big screens for featured games are awesome. Can't go wrong with beer and arcade cabinets, I highly recommend visiting if you're into both!
