This place is sooooo much like the mom & pop hardware stores I used to prefer in Maryland. Like them, Hardware Express has what I'm looking for 99% of the time vs the big box stores which usually have 50% of what I'm looking for less than 50% of the time! Staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are what you'd expect, but I'm willing to pay the difference to support LOCAL as well as, like I said they have what I want, so that saves me time and wear and tear on my shoe soles.

Best hardware store in Crown Heights! They have so much variety and you can find things that you can’t find in any other store but this one! They have good pricing too. And amazing customer service! I recommend this store for paint, wood, tools and much more!
That place is ok to buy paint and materials and tools
The staff are wonderful. The reason for removing 1 star is because the prices on electrical is sky high. I understand the need for a hardware store to be more expensive than an electric supply, and I also appreciate the fact that they are pretty well stocked for the electrician that's in a pinch, but in my opinion the prices on what I bought is off the charts. Nonetheless, I will probably be back next time I'm in need of something I'm missing and I'm close by.
always busy good staff
Tried to give this place another shot, after requesting information from one of the staff, only to be summarily dismissed, in favor of a guy who just walked up to him, and started asking a other question. The 2nd time, I was told that if a part didn't fit, there is a strict no refund policy. That's kind of difficult to to do, when the part I needed to replace, was attached to a client's flushometer toilet, and the only way to bring it in for comparison, would haven been to shut down the water for the building, until I returned with it, the next day. You can't re-sell an undamaged, unused part, if it doesn't fit? What kind of backwards policy is that? It's not a tool, it's a part. Severely overpriced at that. 3rd time won't be the charm.
