I love that they bring new programs for the kids instead of the same ones every year. Swimming pool temp is always perfect. Love the baby pool for 5 years and younger. Price for adults is $3.50 and $1.00 for the kiddos. Kids get in free if they have a My Denver card.
It's a smaller rec center but seams to have a little bit of everything. Very cool local resource.
Very clean and nice park to play and swim!
Clean and friendly. Same place I've been to hundreds of times living in neighborhood my whole life
If I could rate this recreation center any lower, I would. My wife saw an advertisement for Parent's Night Out at the Harvey Park Recreation Center - only $5 per child. We thought that would be great -- we get to go on a date, our 2 boys 7 and 8 get to have fun playing with other kids. We dropped them off shortly after 5pm, and walked in shortly before 8pm. We'd expected to see the boys laughing and playing. Instead, my oldest saw us, ran up to me, and said "All I want to do is go home. Right now." The tone in his voice said it all -- this was no exaggeration, and he isn't joking. He had a very very bad experience. Our youngest came up to us next, and they both relayed some very upsetting experiences they had. 4 boys decided to bully them most of the time they were there. I don't know the boys' names, but was told the gang leader was wearing an orange t-shirt, and another had a light blue or light grey sleeveless shirt. My kids thing the gang-of-4 were 11 or 12. 1 I don't know what precipitated this, but the orange shirt bully told my oldest that if he "told on him", he'd punch my son. 2 While playing outside, the gang-of-4 relentlessly chased my 2 boys around, to the point that they were both afraid of these kids. In an effort to get the boys to stop, my oldest started running full speed for the street he didn't go into the street, but ran towards it, knowing it was out of the area they were supposed to remain in. My oldest tells me he believes the gang-of-4, particularly orange-shirt, wanted to get them into trouble. 3 During a game of dodge ball, the gang-of-4 were pelting other kids focusing on my 2 boys so hard that my children ended up with welts on their skin. Others might read this and think -- of course, that's what kids do. I would generally agree, but here's the rub -- according to my children, the staff didn't do anything to stop these events from occurring, or halt them once they began. I asked my oldest why they didn't tell a staff member, or have them call us, and we could've picked them up. 1 My oldest told me that the "mean lady" apparently older, wrinkles on her face, blue shirt, and on the heavy side was yelling at other kids earlier that night. And whatever she said to these kids caused my children to mistrust her. 2 He did tell one of the staff that he wanted to go home, expecting they'd call us, and was told unequivocally, "no". 3 While everyone was playing basketball, a DJ setup his equipment and started playing the music so loud that my boys' ears hurt. They told this to one of the staff, who responded by saying they were too close to the speakers. The boys were only that close to the speakers because that's where the staff member was, so they had no choice. They also said when they covered their ears, their bodies were vibrating due to the music. That's too loud, ESPECIALLY for young children. I, and my children, value their hearing. The staff allowing music to be played that loud is inexcusable, to which I can only conclude they don't value their hearing, and could care less about the hearing of the children they're watching. To sum it up: 1 When seeking help from the staff, the staff ignore and completely shutdown my children. 2 The staff created an environment where the children are afraid to seek their help. 3 The staff created an environment where bullying is allowed to happen, and apparently don't have the experience or training necessary to stop it. This entire event is sad, pathetic, and must not be allowed to continue. However, while I cannot control the staff, I can control whom I trust with my children -- and I do not trust the Harvey Park Recreation Center. Rest assured, we will never return. And if anyone from the Harvey Park Recreation Center is reading this -- I expect you can view your security video to figure put names to the descriptions I've provided.
Lot's of Geese, and Geese poop. Has a decent recreation center & playground for the kids. However just watch your feet for geese poo in the grassy areas where the good spots are to picnic at....‍‍ Otherwise I would give this place 4 stars if they took better care.
Great neighborhood rec-center with a very helpful and friendly staff. I take my two oldest here in the winter time to shoot hoops. Keep up the good work
Awful and rude employees yelled at my 8 year old sister for "slamming" her doors and then laughed about it. She was a blonde with black glasses. Do not bring your children here.
Told by staff that it's a private club for exclusive use by Parks and recreation staff only . Highly disturbing since this a place that's taxpayer funded and lisst themselves as part of the Denve Parks system
Pretty nice. The fitness room is a little small. It would be nice if they had yoga classes.
