The staff was so helpful. They were honestly the best help. They found the neglect from my tax preparer that I needed to resolve my issue. They also provided me with the documents I needed to prove that my tax preparer did not turn in my taxes after I paid them extra to prepare my taxes. I am so grateful that the Hawaii State Taxation Department helped me resolve and find the real issue. The tax preparer was blaming the IRS. I thought it was the taxation office that created the problem but they were so helpful in providing the documents I needed to prove that it was not the state taxation office but the tax processing center that I had paid to do my taxes. Now I can pursue and address the real issue. BBB here I come along with civil court. The tax preparer is gonna hear from my attorney!
I give the tax office three stars. I can get my questions answered and my taxes paid. The employees are usually helpful, especially considering if you were asking these questions to a private tax advisor you would receive a bill. Unfortunately the office is in a building in a fairly congested area and there is limited parking.
Mahalo to Phillys for her kind, knowledgeable, and professional assistance this morning! Please let your superiors how valuable you are! Again, mahalo! Enjoy the holidays. May 2023 be your year!
I contacted the Hawaii Taxation Department with a general question. Due to the high call volume, the initial wait time was 50 minutes. After 50 minutes, my wait time was reduced to 30 minutes. A representative named Cole or Nicole answered the phone, and as soon as she took my name and account information, she hung up on me. After all that waiting, nothing came of it. It reminds me of why I left the island; "Aloha" has deteriorated over time.
Phone service SUCKS. Wait time is long. Finally you are connected to ONLY be disconnected. 3x this happened. My 4th try, actually spoke with Customer Service, placed on HOLD disconnected . No can .
Unbelievable experience 1st showing my I d to a guy at entry no uniform had me sign in Then goto 1 window she sent me to 2 ND floor show my I d again Then to cashier cash only no debt no cc I walked out
Haven't been to the tax office in decades and that's the way I like it. Do everything on line though I have had to call them. In the current environment wait times are expected to be longer, but they still answered my call within about 15 minutes which I think is great! I waited on the phone for a local TV/Interent/phone service provider for over 45 minutes the day before and never did get a live person. The individuals with whom I have spoken to have been very helpful and patient. It's the website that I have a problem with. Though it was recently "overhauled," I think it still needs a lot of work. It is not user friendly. Yesterday, I did my reconciliation and expected a penalty, but when I made the payment the penalty and interest were taken off. Logged in today and the penalty and interest are charged.???? I was owed a refund so maybe that threw the system off. I don't know. But I find the website somewhat difficult to navigate as well.
I called in for help with an online application. There was a fee that I needed to pay, and the option to pay it had disappeared. Everyone was very patient, professional, and friendly. When they transferred me to a different department, they gave me the number for it in case the call was interrupted. Lynden in the licensing department set up a solution that would take a while to show up on my account, and gave me his extension so I could call him back directly if it didn't. When I did call him and leave a message, he called me back within 15 minutes and figured out what the problem was. By the end of the day, I was able to pay my fee. All of this only took about 75 minutes on the phone, late in the morning on a Monday. Not bad at all. Most of that time was spent on hold. Everyone I actually spoke to was very efficient.
Rude and incompetent workers. Lady rolled her eyes and laughed at me when I had a question about a form I was filling out. When I asked her if she knew what it was talking about, she herself did not know and said “you need to find that out yourself”. Who hires these people?
If I could leave zero stars I would. Most non- user friendly website interface I have ever encountered. The whole website and hyperlinks to connecting servers need to be revamped. I felt like I was going in circles. Then when I called I was on hold for 30 min. With zero callers ahead of me. That's what the system kept saying. Sounds like someone doesn't wanna answer the phone. Worst experience of any state government system. Hawaii you need to seriously work on your websites. Talk about stone aged. With all the money the state is taking from the state and extra rail taxes your websites should be top notch. Zero stars
