Blown away at how great my experience was. I got a great deal through Hotwire to rent a car through this location, but after I read the reviews I was feeling pretty uneasy about it. I showed up right on-time for my reservation 9:30am on a Tuesday, and was greeted by their super friendly staff immediately. They were SO nice, didn't hassle me about using my credit card insurance I've had other rental places nearly yell at me that I couldn't... but professionally and informatively offered their options. The return procedure was explained thoroughly, and the guy even wrote a note on his business card to remind me of the procedure pick up was out front, drop off was in a garage on the other side of the block. The lady behind the counter even asked if I wanted anything when she went on a coffee run. Either I lucked out with the best staff ever, or it seems they are making changes in the right direction. Staff was friendly, prepared for my arrival, and didn't make me feel like I was ruining their day...which is how I usually end up feeling when I rent a car anywhere else. I think I was in and out in under 20 minutes. The car was right out front for me to get into and drive off. 11/10 would rent here again.
Although the agent was nice, she seemed to be the only one working. She had to check everyone in AND go get their car, and I wonder if she had to go to the gas station each time because it took so long. It took over an hour to get a car. Also, after getting in the car I saw a PlatePass sticker so asked the agent if it was active, meaning we wouldn't have to pay tolls. She said she had no idea what I was talking about. We paid our tolls, then later was charged by Hertz for the tolls plus a convenience fee.
Unprofessional. Unwilling to resolve the fact that the car they rented to us had no spare tire. Just gave some excuse about different suppliers. Wouldn't take my wife's debit card, even though it works properly. Took over an hour to get the car once the paperwork was situated. I went and got ramen in the time it took the guy to go to the garage and retrieve the car. Returning after hours was a fiasco. The gate is locked. No hertz person. The customer service number went to some rude lady who didn't want to help. The return took an hour or so to connect with the security guard. Terrible.
Giving this one star because I can't give zero. I picked up my car last week from this location for work travel. After issues with my vehicle, I had to switch it out at the Newark airport before heading back to DC to return the car. The Newark representative noted I could drop it off any time Saturday AM before 10:30 and incur no additional fees, and because of the issues with the car she said she made a note in my account indicating the update, since it was unlikely I'd make it back before the location closed, due to having to go to Newark to switch the car. I arrived to this location on Saturday, a bit before 9 and waited for them to open. When the Hertz rep arrived outside to unlock the doors, she said that anyone who was dropping off a car could give her keys and she'd send an email receipt in "about 20-30 minutes". Again, this was at 9am sharp when the location was just opening. I received an emailed receipt at 12:02pm. It indicated the car was checked in at 11:39. This caused an extra day of charges to be incurred. I immediately called the Hertz location and they had already closed the office. I called billing. Closed. I called the location on Monday. They claimed after 30 minutes of entering receipts they can't make changes. told me to call billing. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday- I waited on hold for varying amounts of times totaling over 6 hours, when I could, between work meetings. Wednesday- I get someone finally who tells me they can't verify my "story" and I'd need to call the location. They indicated I returned the car too late and couldn't receive a refund. Remember: I was there BEFORE they opened on Saturday and returned it 1.5 hours before I was told I needed to. I then talked to a supervisor. I was told an 'investigation' would be done in 5-7 days and someone would contact me to let me know "if" I'd be refunded the extra fees. The location's service rep was dismissive and rude. Billing claimed I was lying. Believe your customers, because I'm absolutely not lying. THere's likely video footage of me standing outside the Hertz door for at least 15 minutes before 9am and me handing the keys over to the rep as she arrived at 9am. This is the kind of thing that causes Hertz to lose a customer who, before COVID, was making 15-20 corporate bookings per year with Hertz.
Service is trash. I booked a car with a car seat 2 months in advance and they didn't have any. Took almost 2 hours to get us a seat and it was missing parts. We had to rush or say because of that. They also lied about the age charge and now I have to fight with them on the phone to fix it. They also never brought up that I can't drop off the car on the day I had to return it. I have no words for how mad I am. Over a 100 dollars in fees because they are either dumb or liars
Do not rent from this location. Rented a one-way car, declining all insurance since I'm well covered on my own. Got to drop off location on a Saturday, and learned I'd been charged for supplemental liability insurance. Assumed it was just a simple clerical error - but....Was told that no manager works on weekends that was odd and a manager would be the only one that could help me. Received no phone call back on Monday. Called back Tuesday, and the manager would not talk to me on the phone, but relayed a message to take it up with Hertz national billing. Of course, all interactions after that could only look at the contract which had the insurance marked as accepted. Would have cost Hertz $18 refund and the courtesy of a less than 5 minute call with the manager. However, I believe this was actually a scam given the avoidance of actually taking to me, and am assuming this probably happens intentionally, so I've removed Hertz entirely from my approved vendor list for my company and will never use them again.
When we went to pick up the car the people working were really nice and helpfull. We got a bigger car then we actually made reservations for. After returning the car they booked us a Uber to the busstation. I can not thank Hertz enough for their excellent service and help during our rental time! I saw a lot of bad reviews but I dont understand them at all. We made reservartions through a third party website. Turned out that the rental cost of a baby seat where much higher then explained on the third party website. Hertz did not make a big deal out of it and canceled the baby seat. We had a excellent time roadtripping the US because of this Hertz location! Big thumbs up guys!!!!
Worst, rudest and most incompetent service like ever! When I read the reviews I could not believe it until i encountered it myself. To start with the customer service agent wrote a WRONG contract, and without car inspection report! I used to wait for him on the call for like an hour, yes seriously an hour. Then this manager tried to fix it but made it worse by denying the conversation we had where he claimed he will make it up to me, "I don't recall having this conversation" and the day i returned the car, when I had an argument with him, he asked me to exit HIS store! And he terminated my contract. Needless to mention the wait time in the store and how challenging it is to get there through GS navigation. RUN from this place!
My experiences with this location has been superb. All agents went out of their way to ensure my transaction ran smoothly. The cars are in very good condition and I was in and out on both occasions. The only problem i encountered was running out of a parking spot when returning the vehicle on a Sunday when a game was going on. But now i know to check the schedule of the Capital Arena.
Rude, reckless, and incompetent. We were so concerned with these reviews that we walked in to the office the day prior to make sure that we would get picked up as confirmed in our booking and have a GPS system as we were driving to DC. They did not do pick up but had no intention of letting us know, so we would have simply waited for them to come for God-knows how long. We arrived to collect the car, and were given a GPS unit that did not work, it was locked/not authenticated, when we called to ask for assistance, he simply put me on hold. After 15 minutes, i hung up and called and he deliberately just put me on hold again. I was driving over 4 hours away with no working GPS system which i had paid for! Worst, rudest most despicable service i have ever received anywhere ever.
