This review is for this location and it's employees. NOT HERTZ in general at this time because it would not be 5 stars then. KeShawn and Rolando are polite, helpful, kind and accommodating. Even when there are cars available at other locations, I try to book here because I feel like these guys really do their best. The location is busy not their fault, there is a large scope of people who rent from here- locals, tourist and business- cars are limited. They run out of cars lots of places do, obviously, its a DC problem, but KeShawn gave me a solid heads up today, let me know what choices I had and was patience while I figured out how to move forward. Also, the cars here are clean, not at all like the experience I had a Hertz Union Station. I recommend this location because the employees are solid, the issues I have experienced are more Hertz corp/company related.
Hi, Would like to give a big thumbs up to both Keshawn & Rolando at Hurtz, we booked a car the day before and when I called up the following morning to confirm it was available m, Keshawn told me politely that the car is reserved and ready to go. When we got to the counter the guys made everything go very smoothly and we were very happy with their customer service. We also got lucky by getting an upgraded vehicle due to the one we reserved was not available so we got the next size up. Very happy with Hurtz and would book again. Danny and Denisa
The representative was terrible and unprofessional. Customers had to wait because the representative was 45 minutes late. The car was not clean. I would definitely not recommend this location.
Made a reservation and I went there they told me they don’t have any cars. They did not bother calling and letting me know before I went there. What a waste of my time. Why would the app let you book is beyond me. They had no idea when cars will be available and were not at all helpful
WARNING!!! TAKE DOWN THIS LOCATION HERTZ AND DONT BOOK!!! We booked a hit car through our travel agent in Australia to pick up at 9am on the 4th April 2023 to start our trip through Canada. Went to this location and told by hotel staff that they had moved to Union Station. Attended Union Station and told to contact customer service as this office had closed but they needed the car on their list and they could then provide us with a car. Contact customer service and we’re told by operator that they could not amend it and I have to do it through my travel agent. I explained it was now midnight in Australia and I wouldn’t be able to talk to my agent for hours. Customer service told me that wasn’t her problem and the agent should have not booked through that location. I told her that Hertz still have this location listed and confirmed the booking but she didn’t care. I tried another 3 times and got the same answer. We weren’t able to cancel and rebook the same day through Hertz either. After making many calls because no companies seemed to have vehicles, we eventually found a car through Avis. The only vehicle they had available was twice the price but we were already about 6 hours behind schedule. I will NEVER us Hertz again and tell anyone and everyone never ever to use this company. I have never ever seen anything like this occur and you ruined this for us. Do not use Hertz!
WARNING! People please DO NOT book at this 999 9th st. location! We made a reservation to pick up our car but couldn't find it. We asked the hotel front desk and were told they moved out long ago to union station, SO we went to the union station one BUT the staff there told us they cannot honor our rental and told us to call customer support... at this point we were very upset. Our trip was totally mess up. We decided to just cancel the reservation. Hertz, if you see this comment, please remove this location so no others will be further persecuted.
Very unprofessional and disgusting. I booked one day before but when I went there a girl who were settling behind the desk told me that there is no gas car available. At first she wanted to provide me an electric vehicle but after that denied. I spent two hours and didn’t receive a car. Never book with this company. I contacted customer service they booked another station but when I went there the other station also didn’t provide a car for me. The agent said my manager told us not to provide any same day booking. I never had such a bad experience in the US. Don’t try this company.
This location is closed - do not reserve a car here. I made a reservation here, they emailed me several times the week before confirming the pickup location at the Renaissance. We got there on time this morning only to be told that Hertz had closed and was now located at Union station. Took another car to Union Station, struggled to find the small understaffed booth and then learned that this was a separate location and they did not have my reservatjon. No explanation other than “you have to call corporate.” Had to scramble to get a car at another tiny booth at that location - thank goodness the Avis / Budget employee was so expert and accommodating or I would have literally been stranded with my 2 kids and our luggage. I’ve never seen anything like this before - the failure in communication, lack of loyalty to customers and apparent laziness on some one’s part to not recognize the problem and stop it before it affected countless people are mind boggling…and infuriating! While I was standing there at Avis/Budget there were at least half a dozen other people and their families and children - wandering around this obscure and filthy downtown garage wondering how to deal with the same abandonment by Hertz. I would normally give Hertz a second chance - they’d been a good company until now and I’m a Gold customer - but this experience was so bad from top to bottom and LOL allowed me to see that Avis/Budget is just as good and more accessible, that I will not be using Hertz again!!!
Was worried given all the negative reviews, but didn't need to be. The location was convenient, there was no wait, the staff member was friendly and helpful, the pick-up process was smooth, with no upselling attempts. Had booked a standard sedan, but was initially allocated a compact SUV that didn't fit our luggage. On raising this with the staff member we were immediately reallocated to a standard SUV, without fuss or attempt to charge. Car was good, all as expected and served me well.
They don't accept calls even after they open at 9am. They turn on phones well after opening, terrible business practice .
