Had reservation booked with flight information for late pick up through Hertz. Called and confirmed before flight took off. Landed and they were closed and had cancelled my reservation - no notice was sent - I only know they cancelled from calling Hertz customer service. If you call the number and try to speak to someone local or rather at the counter the call automatically ends / disconnects, every time at all times of day. Hertz main customer service was only able to assure me nothing was or would be billed to my card and that was it and if I had any questions to go back to the airport counter in person or call the number and select the options that end the call.
Well, After showing up 15 minutes before they close and being told they couldn't help me because the were "about to" close, I came back in the morning having to stay the night to wait for my reserved car. In the morning I talked to two unhelpful ladies. One of which had worked there 41 years!!! Its time to go I think. The one thing she could not do with all her experience was be helpful. But oh, did she want to tell me how much she knew about everything. Basically brushing me aside I walked over to Enterprise who got me in a car, and on my way in under 10 minutes with no reservation. Do not go to Hertz unless you have to. This company, and its employees need to be redone from the ground up. At least at the MKE airport.
Like many others leaving reviews here, I too had a delayed flight. Called the local Hertz counter at the airport in advance and the counter agent said no problem, just pick the car up in the morning. Maria at the counter the next day quite rudely turned us away and said that even though we prepaid for our car AND called ahead, we were just out of luck but she didn’t say it as nicely. In fact the other lady at the counter said it was because “50 people never returned their cars” which we all know is a lie because Hertz would have had all those people arrested, it’s what they do. So we did what we should have done from the start and booked with National. Seamless, had our choice of cars, everyone was nice and helpful and nobody was rude.
Total scam. Attendant told me to call customer service because he couldn't figure out my Apple card, and the customer service representative said actually he had to cancel the whole $124 reservation paid for the unrelated reason that the car couldn't be dropped off in Cedar Rapids, even though I booked through their website and it said I could. He said in addition to canceling the reservation he would have to charge a cancellation fee. The man at the desk scratched his chin when I told him and said I could either take a car and bring it back not possible with my itinerary or take a train. Totally ruined my trip to see my father, who is in the emergency room, and I have no other options to go see him on such short notice. I wish the best for all of Hertz's employees, but I think bankruptcy was the best option for this company and its subsidiaries.
I arrived at Hertz to retrieve my rental after landing in Milwaukee and was greeted by Mary. She had the BEST attitude and was extremely helpful and patient after I realized my license had expired I was able to go online a d get it renewed and she never once made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Her customer service was phenomenal and if I am ever back in the area I will certainly use this company again!
Easy and very quick car rental transaction. The car rental pick up is close to the baggage claim in MKE, and the folks working in the garage were friendly and helpful. I liked that we were able to pick our own car that best suited the needs of our trip.
Do not rent from Hertz. This is a horrible company. Our flight was delayed end arrived 30 minutes after the counter closed. We had called ahead earlier in the day and THOUGHT we had made arrangements to pick up the car the next morning. When we arrived at the airport to pick up our rental. We were told rather curtly that our reservation had been canceled and that there was nothing they could do for us. It was a fully pre-paid reservation. Hertz would’ve kept our money. If we didn’t call to get a refund. This is a horribly run company. rent with hertz. Take your chances.
They wouldn't let us check in even though we brought the credit card we used to pay. Since the name on the card wasn't the same as the drivers they said we had to call the customer service line and give them a different card number. We already paid and they wanted to put a hold on another credit card. We also tried to add a day to our rental and they wanted to charge us over $400 over what we already paid. For a single day. It would have changed the daily rate for all the days of our reservation from the rate we paid for to the current rate.
I didn't have any issues with picking up the rental, but I had to change my flight, so I needed to drop the car off early, at a time then they where closed and I needed to make sure they had early drop off at this location. I was not able to update the reservation on line since the rental was already in progress; it told me to call. I called for 30 minutes and no one ever picked up. And after so many rings, the line hangs up and and I had to go through the prompts all over again.
They are not even deserve a star at all. So disappointed. Bad customer service in the counter. Won’t explain well for the price. I got charged for double price. The car was old. Be careful if you are a different color they might try to take you advantage of you.
