Hiawatha Lumber

My parents and I for both of our homes ordered Marvin Ultimate window inserts from Jon at Hiawatha Lumber and we all agree it was the best experience we have had with any home remodeling project! We were hesitant to replace the windows on our bungalows, not wanting to damage the natural woodwork. Jon was knowledgeable and reassuring--explaining the product, measuring expertly, and showing us how the windows would work in our homes. He was also able to recommend an installer who was fantastic--detail oriented, hard working, was skilled throughout the installation process and was a pleasure to have in our homes. I go there often, and have usually had a good experience. Their dimensional lumber is great quality. Nice fir, and you don't have to pick through 30 boards to find one good one. Their other products are really good quality too. Their #2 pine 1x is usually such good material, you can use it for paint grade trim if you aren't afraid of filling a few knots. The people who work here I have met are knowledgeable and helpful. I would suggest to check the yard before paying at the front desk when buying trim to make sure larger quantities are in stock before running a card.

They are so helpful. They always give good advice on any project I'm working on. Such knowledgeable and experienced staff. Sometimes I don't have a car and bring my garden cart, and they help me load it up. Dan just helped me unstuck my angle grinder this morning. Thank you!

I found the exact type of wood I needed to repair my wife’s sewing machine work table. I also appreciated their knowledge and expertise thus making my finished project totally successful. Two thumbs up for Hiawatha Lumber.

I brought in a storm window that I wanted replicated. A Marvin storm window was ordered for me and after I got it home and painted, I realized that the angle on the bottom of the window was going the wrong way. I brought the window back and I was told that Marvin makes their windows the opposite of what I had wanted. That is fine, but I was not told this and nothing was done by Hiawatha Lumber to rectify the problem except try to blame me for it. I was extremely disappointed in the customer service at Hiawatha Lumber. I will definitely buy my windows elsewhere.

Horrible customer service! On 05/25/19, in the morning, went to inquire about an order and the guy behind the counter acted as if we were bothering him. Said he couldn’t access our order and offered no other solution or attempt to help. When asked when would someone be there that could access our order, the guy said “in a week.” He then commented about a female coworker that was actually helping customers by saying, “You can talk to her when she gets done with her love fest.” What customer service person talks like that???

Poor customer experience. Calls not returned. Not notified when order arrived in stock. Office staff unable to check the status of an order. At least we got it eventually. I will try another vendor next time I need window or door hardware.

I've been going to Hiawatha Lumber for nearly 30 years and I've always received expert advice about remodeling my 1930's bungalow, outstanding personalized service, and high quality materials, including Marvin window products. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We have used Hiawatha Lumber for numerous projects over the last 15 years. I trust anything John says about construction. I also love the older gentlemen whom works the yard. I like that he takes off his glove to shake my hand every time I come in.::

Very helpful and friendly. Quick service and reasonably priced. They are great where Home Depot can't help. I'll be back! Thanks John and Dan!
