Hillcrest House Bed and Breakfast

We booked the Old Town Room at Hillcrest House for 1 night. We were very disappointed and shocked because all the reviews were fantastic. We have stayed at many B&B’s in the USA and out of the country. We were inconvenienced since we were asked to stop by so they could meet us the morning of our stay. The room was very small and there were only 2 very uncomfortable table chairs in the room to sit on. There was a desk but no paper or pen to write with.The shower sliding door must have broken and they took the glass out and left the frame and just put up a shower curtain. There was no ice to make our drink cold. We had to leave very early the next morning so they said they would give us a bag breakfast. A yogurt, banana and a granola bar was in the bag. When we got to the airport the yogurt had to be thrown away because it didn’t pass TSA approval. A home made muffin or biscuit would have been a nicer touch for what we paid for the room. I am very sad that our experience was not what everyone’s was.

Charming and cozy. Close to the airport but quiet. Love the details of the room and amenities provided - thick robes, owner-labeled toiletries, option to purchase new items we enjoyed as a guest, and excellent hospitality! The best B&B we've ever been to in California.

Ann is a most caring hostess. As she opens her home to you, you truly feel as if you're family. The guests that I encountered were cordial. The overall atmosphere is peaceful. The bed and pillows allow restful, relaxing sleep. I chose to have my coffee at Peete's, because I prefer half n half. Ann may have accommodated me, I didn't ask, because she is health and environmentally conscience. Reflecting the breakfast offered, fresh fruit, muffins, jams, coffee, hard boiled eggs and toast were always presented appetizingly. Whenever I'm in the San Diego area, I will definitely be at the Hillcrest House B&B. PS loved the soap.

Why stay in an overpriced, generic hotel when you could enjoy the luxury and warmth of the Hillcrest B&B?! Friendly and eager to please staff combined with all the comforts of home make for a 5star stay. The new La Jolla suite is perfect, just perfect. Cant wait to go back. Thank you, Ann. Jason & Misti

Loved it! Owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. Our expectations were very much exceeded.
