They really aren't set up or ready for the "I need to grab food on my way to the office" style of breakfast. I was running a little late this morning so I swung by to grab oatmeal, something I expected to take two minutes you know? Scoop it into a bowl for me and I'm on my way. I was really surprised when it took about 10 minutes. I also thought it was exorbitantly expensive. A small bowl of oatmeal was 8 bucks. It does come with some fresh fruit, strawberries and blueberries, and syrup, but come on man. It's oatmeal. That stuff is 8 bucks for a ten pound bag. Honestly, the oatmeal was good and the fruit was fresh, but it's just way too expensive and it takes too long.
Small cozy place. A limited menu perfected for a good taste. Do try their brownies and muffins.
The food is delicious, but the quality of food cannot make up for the terrible, horrendous wait staff. This is not my first time here, however I will not come back. On one occasion they took my order but never brought me coffee or food. I told them I wanted to cancel my order and not a single person cared that I was leaving. I decided to try here one last time. My wife ordered the salmon platter that was supposed to come with a bagel... It came with a burger bun and without cream cheese. How in the world a smoked salmon platter was able to leave the kitchen without cream cheese is beyond my comprehension. Our server never checked up on us so we had to ask for cream cheese two times before they brought it to us apparently they had ran out of cream cheese and bagels and the needed to run to the store to get more. No one ever informed us or else she would have ordered something else. I ordered the special which was chicken and waffles benedict, which we split and finished before we got the cream cheese. We never got refilled on our coffee and I sat with an empty cup for over 20 minutes. I watched countless people come to the counter and get ignored, I watched people sit at tables, get frustrated that no one greeted them and then left. My advice is to never come during busy breakfast hours. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was that the manager discounted our final bill since he felt bad that we were neglected by our waitress.
Hoboken Gourmet hosted our group for a private event on New Year's Eve, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Butternut Squash Soup, Meatballs wrapped in bacon, Spanish Pepper Steak and Rice, all ridiculously good. And then the grand finale was desert, which was unreal. Cheesecake filling wrapped in a caramel shell, I didn't want it to end. If you walk past the chef you can hear the passion he has for the food he serves when he is preparing your meal. The staff was perfect, very nice people all around. We had a great new year's eve and I'll be back as soon as I can.
The food was good, not the best in Hoboken, but service was poor. The waitress forgot to bring me coffee and she forgot utensils.
Went to Breakfast here on a Sunday morning. The place was packed, but somehow I was lucky enough to get a table. The omelette I had was delicious. Coffee was good. And the service was fast. What more can you ask for?
Salmon egg benedict was good. Hope the eggs were runnier tho. But the waffle of waffle and chicken was a little bit sour. I don't know if it's for the best taste with fried chicken but it was different from normal sweet waffles.
I am only giving this place a 1 star, because I have to rate. We got to this place on Saturday 1 October 2016 at around 11am. We sat there for about 5 minutes..no one have gave us any Menu. We went and picked up our own menu after that. We sat there waiting for someone to give us services, No one even bothered to come to us. We kept waiting nothing. A few min after 2 white people sat at a table next to us. And immediately someone came to their service. And also while we sitting. The was another waiter that kept standing next to the door. Did not even bother to serve us. But as soon as other white people walked in. They were at their service immediately. We ended up leaving and telling the girl at the cashier we leaving. Very dissapointed. Treated bad because of the colour of our skin.
Cute little cafe. I can't comment on the food since I only go in for coffee or apple cider but it seems alright. There are a few baked goods and cookies to go around. Not many mom and pop places left on Hoboken. It's becoming chain central.
Good food but that's it. We didn't get what we wanted, the tea selection was missing most of the things listed, it was packed, tag waitresses bumped into me constantly, and the woman behind the counter was angry.
