We had a great visit. It was Tuesday night and we happened to arrive just in time for 7pm trivia. It was quick to be seated and food arrived in a timely manner. We stayed for trivia and even won a HopCat gift card. The food was delicious. The fries, the pretzels with spicy mustard and the buffalo rolls were fantastic! We tried the burgers but I'm not a huge fan of smash burgers so I thought they were great but not the best. Overall it was a nice night out.
Loaded Cosmik fries are amazingly good. I also got the Buffalo wraps and chicken wings. Online showed they had Reuben rolls on the menu but when we ordered it wasn't available so that was my only bummer. Sometimes I forget this is a close option near the Fisher Bldg. Will order from here again.
We went to HopCat downtown after the Detroit tigers game. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. My boneless chicken wings were so so but the fries were really good. If I was giving out on food alone I would say 3.5 out of 5 stars. The waitress was friendly and accommodating but she seemed overwhelmed. I’m guessing this isn’t her fault as they were probably understaffed like every other restaurant since the pandemic started. I would say wait staff alone would be 4 of 5 stars. The area that failed miserably was the restroom. Maybe it isn’t like this every time but the paper towel was overflowing on floor. The stall had no toilet paper and was an absolute mess. Again maybe they understaffed and this is the reason for the mess. I would give the restroom 0 out of 5 stars. With so so food and an absolutely disgusting restroom I don’t think I’ll be back to this location. Maybe it was just an off day for the restaurant but not downtown enough to see.
My brother and were seated immediately on a Saturday just around dinner time. For an appetizer we had the boneless honey sriracha wings that were average. I had the super club wrap with fries that was very good. My brother said he enjoyed his Mac and cheese bowl with bread crumbs and chicken. Craft flights are sorta odd. They come in 6 ounce tulip glasses as a set of 3 and are individually priced. Good selection of the current popular craft beers. The acoustics can be loud but the atmosphere and decor is 70’s, 80’s band nostalgic. The establishment is filled with velvet pictures, posters and pictures on both lower and upper floors. Low/high/booth and bar seating. Two full bars upstairs and down. Outdoor rooftop area but a little simple with plastic chairs and tables. Wifi. Relatively clean. Rear lot or street metered parking. Pricy. I would probably return if I was in the area again.
Delicious fries, burgers, and atmosphere. This place has been around for a bit and for good reason. Though renamed, their crack fries are delicious. With a sweet and salty seasoning on them they go perfectly with the cheese sauce it is accompanied by. The burgers are smash burgers and pretty on point. Service was good, attentative for how busy it was on an early Saturday afternoon. The beer list is vast and fun to explore. Large bathrooms on both floors are nice and clean. Good place to bring families, lots of large seating.
The food is great and well priced for the area, beer was cold, and the staff was friendly. I've always seen the name but never gone until the new spot opened in Royal Oak today! Soft opening I'm looking forward to coming back very soon! Obligatory catsup? tax.
I got the Cowboy Double Smash with those amazing Cosmik fries! Delicious!!! The burger has bacon, Swiss, jalapeño, tomatoe, pickle, topped with an onion ring!!!! Yessir!! Also, great service! Our waitress was funny, helpful and knew all about the beer menu! Well done, Hopcat!!Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
Staff were doing a great job, hustling around. Burgers need seasoning, but the toppings with the burgers were good, but you gotta season the meat! Fries were great! The pretzel nugs were pretty good too.Dine in: NoOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: NoDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: No
Busy place with a fantastic beer selection. Everything was great except the server forgetting about my beer order. After 10 minutes was walking up to the bar to get a beer when she finally came back to our table and caught me. Service continued to be slow. Got the adobo chicken tacos, were not good, had hardly any poblano or onion and nasty shredded chicken when it sounds great as braised adobo chicken on the menu. Don't get. Chipotle chicken melt don't bother with either. Got the Distorter beer and that was great. Other than that not the greatest experience but ok.
Service was top notch for a weekday afternoon. Bartender was knowledgeable, helpful, and very pretty if that's your thing. Wrap was ok. Turkey "breast" was high water content mushy. Ok flavor. Good fries. Love the kitty island sauce. I do recommend. Great atmosphere! I will need more visits to see if this place has value for me.
