Illinois River Winery

Ignored until I was walking out. I’ve been wanting to try this place for some time and I like to buy my wine from the winery. In January I stopped by and they were closed. Today my granddaughter, husband and I I were able to visit. Quaint small place so my husband and granddaughter went to sit at a table in the adjacent room. There were 2 people working and a group of 7 doing a tasting at the counter. The workers looked at us as we can in, no greeting or acknowledgement that we were there. Knowing they were busy I walked around looking at their displays, went to the end of the counter read their selections of wines for tasting. The man came to the end of the counter, rinsed out some glasses and still no acknowledgement. I waited a short time walked up to the counter, laid the wine selection paper in front worker walked to the door, informed my husband and granddaughter we were leaving. Only at that time did that lady speak to me. Asking if I waited a tasting, that she could do it at the table. I told her it was to late. Poor customer service. All they had to do was greet us, ask how they could help us and that they would be right with me. Not wait till I was leaving.

Chocolate chip cookie dough are the best! My friend liked Strawberry Cheesecake best. Owner was very nice & we enjoyed talking to her!

I absolutely loved this place! The staff was very welcoming and friendly, which made me love the place even more. They made excellent conversation while explaining to me and my girlfriend about the various wines they have. Wine selection is limited (whites, reds, dessert wines, fruit wines), but I liked the majority of the samples I tried. Six samples for $3 is an excellent deal that you can't pass up (you basically end up getting more than a full glass of wine by the end due to generous sample sizes). I bought a few bottles of wine to take back home. They also have wine slushies which I personally did not try, but heard was great from the other customers in there. I definitely recommend stopping by here after getting a hike in at one of the local State parks. I will be going back to grab more wine on my next trip down to the area!
