After a long stimulating day in The French Quarter, this Irish Cultural Museum is the PERFECT spot to sit back, relax, enjoy Irish culture and Irish coffee with or without the coffee! It's a quaint family owned and operated bar with a small yet impactful museum. Take in the images and journeys through the potato famine in Ireland which led to the flight of Irish to America. Also a great spot if you love the courtyards New Orleans is famous for.
As I stepped into the Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans, it was as if I'd been transported straight to the Emerald Isle itself, yet with that unique, vibrant New Orleans twist that makes everything here so electric. The outdoor terrace, a gem within this urban oasis, offers a serene escape where you can bask in the warm, inviting ambiance of New Orleans. It's the perfect backdrop for savoring a pint of Guinness, poured straight from the tap with that meticulous care ensuring the perfect head, the dark, inviting color, and the rich, creamy taste that Guinness aficionados cherish. There's something about enjoying a Guinness here that feels like paying homage to both Irish and New Orleans traditions—an exquisite ritual. And let's talk about the whiskey selection. It's not merely amazing; it's a meticulously curated journey through the heart of Ireland's distilling prowess. Each bottle tells a story, a history of craftsmanship and the pursuit of perfection. From the smooth, triple-distilled elegance of a fine single malt to the robust, peaty character of a traditional blend, the range of Irish whiskeys on offer is a testament to the museum's dedication to authenticity and quality. Visiting the Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans is more than an educational experience; it's an invitation to celebrate the enduring spirit and contributions of the Irish in New Orleans. Whether you're a history buff, a whiskey enthusiast, or simply in search of a pleasant afternoon, this museum delivers with grace and charm. In a city that celebrates the melange of cultures, the Irish Cultural Museum stands out as a beacon of cultural preservation and celebration. It's a place where stories of the past are told with passion and where the essence of Ireland is alive and well, all within the heart of New Orleans. Don't miss this captivating experience. It's a poignant reminder of the threads of history and heritage that connect us all.
This is a wonderful place to celebrate Irish culture and enjoy an Irish coffee, with or without the coffee. There are several photos of the history of the potato famine in Ireland and the flight of Irish emigrants to America. Also, many law enforcement officers have left their uniform badges here, just like they do in Garvey's Tavern in Eyre Square in Galway, Ireland.
This is a serene hideaway on the edge of the Quarter. You can enjoy the peaceful courtyard, along with some delicious coffee, tea, and Guinness on draft. The staff is always really nice, and they will recommend great drinks – including a rotating selection of delicious seasonal cocktails. Don't miss the live Irish music sessions on Sunday evenings!
You could not not love this place. Perfect spot for a cozy rest after all the craziness on bourbon st. On point Irish coffee and whiskeys, and the staff here are such great people to chat with. Ask for their travel tips!!
Come for the culture, stay for the amazing vanilla brown sugar latte's. This place is full of charm and has a full bar/coffee shop. The owner and his family family owned and ran are charming, sweet, and informative. Great place for some hair of the dog OR if you're from Seattle like me, really good coffee!
Connected to, and supported by, the pub next door/behind the museum. Small museum but interesting. Beautiful courtyard. Very cool, very chill. Best irish coffee we found out of six local Irish Pubs and the only place playing good music. Extensive Irish whiskey selection. They've got nicer pours, but they're a little pricey. Family run
What a hidden gem!! Great atmosphere to duck in out of the heat and crowds! Connected to the St. Pats coffee house.Small but informative area about The Irish Culture and history! Highly recommend!
Lots of history! Amazing courtyard and bar with an extensive variety of Irish whiskeys. Their coffee shop was superb too! Best coffee in NOLA.
Fantastic Irish coffee and Irish music. Makes me want to go back and visit Ireland again.
