I was excited to try someplace new in downtown Columbus, especially a family owned restaurant that’s been around since the 40s. Unfortunately the food is subpar and I honestly could’ve cooked something MUCH better at home. I ordered one of the specials of the day, the chicken parmigiana. What I received was over cooked pasta, canned tomato sauce, and a chicken patty that likely came from a frozen bag in the grocery store. I’m shocked by all of the positive 4 and 5 star reviews. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Good, American diner breakfast and lunch food. I've eaten here many times. Located on Lynn, behind Rhodes Tower.
Great coffee, good food, comfortable and clean atmosphere, very friendly and attentive staff. Reminds me of the old town diners in Texas.
My craving for a burger, fries, & milkshake was easily satisfied for under $10 pre-tip!
Typical diner food and atmosphere. The service is always good and your order is served quickly. It's a good casual lunch spot in downtown Columbus but a little hidden in an alley. There's not much seating so it can be hard to find a spot during peak lunch hours. They always have a kitchen special that's a good deal and they serve breakfast all day.
I was staying at the Sheraton in Capitol Square and had to find somewhere else for breakfast. I like to support local places and like local diners. They have a lot of character and often a lot of local characters. Jack and Benny’s did not disappoint on convenience, service, food or value. It was early Sunday morning so I think the local characters may have been in bed. I had two eggs, bacon, wheat toast and hash browns. A young girl was taking my order and was very shy. Another woman came over quickly to help her to ensure my order was taken correctly. Some people might get bothered by this but I like to see what I believe to be a family working together like this.
This place is perfect! My friend and I were staying at the hotel across the way and we went down to have breakfast at the baffet, but it was going to be 30 bucks for both of us. So we decided to wait and just have an early lunch. But, a man who worked in the hotel told us about Jacks. My friend and I decided to try it. It was a very short walk and the diner was pretty cute. It is like an old 60's diner. The waitresses were SO NICE! They kept you refilled and the food was out real quick. For the two of us it was 8 bucks and we walked out full and happy.
I was in town visiting and decided to try this diner. It's like a step back in time. Great prices. Great food. The service is wonderful. My food was served quickly and I had a great chat with the staff while I waited. I will be back on my next visit.
If you go in expecting good, all-American comfort food, you will enjoy this place. No huge portions, no flavors to-die for. Decent prices and good food though the "special" should be called the "feature" cause it's sold at regular price. Down home goodness. Johnny Marzetti, anyone?
First time staying in Columbus and saw this place online sounded good, so I walked a mile in the 39 degree weather and found this, closed on a Thursday at 11am, this place must be closed I will not make the walk again another day
