I went in to watch a world cup soccer game and the service was quick and friendly. I sat at the bar and the people around me were also friendly. The food was very good and worth every penny and they also had a nice selection of beer.
I've been here three times and gotten a burger each time. The burgers are decent and the fries are good. The service is always a little slow, but tonight was ridiculous. They were not busy only 3 tables at a time in the main dining room, yet it took 40 minutes to bring out our appetizer and we watched a table next to us wait 30 minutes for a dessert. Almost every table was dirty and remained so the entire 1:15 we were there. A bowl of empty mussel shells sat on a table near the door - it was there when we arrived and still when we parted. They gave a fruit that was rotten which we realized only after the 1 year old child had it in her mouth, the mashed potatoes were like sweet, liquid garlic i.e., disgusting, and the salad dressing tasted like grass, literally which was extra annoying given that we asked for ranch, not their vinaigrette. The salmon was good and so were the chicken tenders. There was only one server who was nice and trued her best and they were out of many of the menu items... It was a disaster. They could've tried to make up for it by sending the manager to apologize or something, but no. So, we will not be back.
The first time I came here, new to the area, in search of a good meal, I ordered a burger. Big mistake. The quality was lacking, and the server seemed a little too bothered to take my order. However, alas, I came back to try my luck. Upon entering on a cold winters day, I was greeted openly, and my meal and drinks were amazing. I ordered the chicken picatta and it was wonderful. Will now be returning for this wonderful dish and wonderful service. I only gave 4 stars for the lack luster burger on my first try. Enjoy!
It's good to know that the kitchen closes at 10 or 10:30. The bartender is incredibly friendly on the weekend. It's never crowded and is a good place for conversations. It has an outside area that is pretty rad to sit in at night. They're outside area has a few weird lights. Tldr, this place is great for quiet chats and a drink.
We do happy hours with our staff here pretty regularly. The downstairs is great for group events and the appetizers are pretty good. Dinner selection seems to change regularly; sometimes for the better, sometimes they take away items that I really like.
Ok, this little place has some pretty good food!! Tucked away on Connecticut Ave. The dish that I created was Fried calamari nachos .....they CRUSHED IT!!! The mini burgers are SUPER flavorful!!! Definitely coming back to try more options
Never. Again. Being back in our old neighborhood made us excited to try Jake's out, as we were one of the original customers when they opened almost 6 yrs ago. However, it absolutely pains me to see how badly the place has fallen off. The service was poor, but it would probably be more appropriate to call it negligent. Literally no one cared that we were sitting without service for 23 minutes, or that it took an additional 30 minutes for our food to prepared. When the food finally arrived it was awful. The grilled cheese was over cooked and then undercooked on the second try. The turkey burger was slobbered in what looked like a mayo paste and the breakfast burger was cold. The truffle fries that are apparently a specialty were soggy and inedible. The best part of the meal was when the check came, within a few seconds of us asking. All attempts at speaking to a manager were ignored. In fact, our waitress completely avoided eye contact and speaking with us from the moment that we expressed that we were not satisfied.
We ordered 3 burgers and they mixed up our orders, the burgers had a mix of things on them that the 3 of us ordered separately. Then after bringing this to their attention, they took them back without a word and fixed them. Only to bring back medium-well done burgers charred black. It was so charred it left a bitter aftertaste. The buns and the onions were cold. The only redeeming quality which gets them 2 stars were the fries. They were really good. Our server was nice enough, but nothing extra. And the pen that we were given to sign the recipt with and add gratuity didn't write.
Good bar, decent food. It's normally pretty quiet and you can easily get a seat. Sitting at the bar is the best bet for getting attentive service, they often only have the one person at the bar. It's not very air conditioned normally and can be hot in there in the summer.
My husband and I were there for a sip and paint night. We had the chicken quesadillas and they were amazing
